Just another day in paradise at ye olde law office. Hopefully you, Sir, are not holding women prisoner against their will in Dirty Dodge today.
I actually don't work in the Dirty anymore! I'm now in Ames, punching the clock on campus because apparently we don't get today off.

I'm watching cartoons on one screen and "reading emails" on my other screen.
I got a lot of my work done last week knowing that I'll have to cover for another guy on vacation this week. It appears we are going to be slow today so I'm literally just surfing the web. Just bought a Rik Smits retro Pacers shirt from Homage.

I would be working today & tomorrow if I wasn't on vacation.

Looking forward to that email inbox on Wednesday. Strong feeling that's going to be my one thing for Wednesday, just get through the inbox.

I need to break down and read all the emails since Wednesday. 95% will most likely be worthless
Yeah I'm catching up too, honestly I can multi task it because it's mostly bankers emailing me basic questions because bankers are 80% brain dead at anything not selling ****.

It's mounds of paperwork for me today. Paying bills, filing things, sorting through the relevant and crap stuff, throw in that corp year end was 6/30, also I need to do quarterly things for the church since I'm the treasurer so its fun day for me. Yesterday I got to spend a few hours in hog confinement because a water line broke; this "long" holiday weekend has been just wonderful.

Just put stuff in the mailbox and thought the house seemed awfully cold when I came in. Checked thermostat and it was at 73, it's supposed to be 76. My wife likes to have windows open, but can't understand why the A/C can't keep up then. She has been sitting around with a blanket on for the last couple days. Seems backwards to me.

S/O to everyone working today
I'm here, too. I've seen 3 custodial staff, one office with some lights on and heard someone drilling way above. They've been working on the roof and I think ventilation system for weeks now. I was going to work from home and then decided I'd rather not miss this atmosphere of working without interruption. Need to take some vacation time, though, I'm bumping up against the limit. Maybe this afternoon.

I'm still building mine up. I'm 1/3rd of the way there to be maxed on vacation but I am taking 40 in two weeks to resurface the deck.

No Corgis? No gals in hammocks in the park? No cool cars? No birds? These are things we want to know about!

Pretty hot so it was mostly ride and survive. Odd to have seen NOTHING cool. Think it was too hot for some peeps.

No corgis.
No vintage cars.
No topless gals at Cedar Lake beach.
One guy in a hammock.
Lots of gals reading at Lake of the Isles....must be the reader lake.
Birds: Did miss sending a sparrow to bird heaven by the width of my bike tire.

So boring i counted bikes that passed me. Didn't bike fast but was still only passed 5 times in 24 miles. Two young guys on roadies and three others that don't count. One was an old dude on an electric bike. The other two were two guys furiously peddling on rental bikes. I was going about 15 mph. The one guy had to be hitting 17 or so. Bet they couldn't keep that up for more than a mile or two. Most peeps on these are biking about 10 mph. Got the last laugh. Right after second guy passed he decided to off path the bike down this grass slope and totally augered in. Me: LOL.

DnD goal achieved though dh left the all important paci in the pickup car so that definitely made the 2nd half rough with a crying toddler. 14 mi total, great views, not windy, mostly overcast or shaded to keep the Temps manageable. Went with our two in the trailer, bestie friends with their 1.5yr old in a trailer and their sister and her dog in a trailer. Quite the caravan. Stopped halfway for breakfast at a dive place, pretty good. 2nd half had more tears due to tired and no paci. Adults also considered crying. Dh and I swapped toward the end and I got to appreciate hauling 70lbs of kid plus trailer. Drove through a bit of water that muddy splashed boys. Almost 5yr old proceeded to tell everyone about it, including strangers. Kid will talk to any warm body and probably cold ones too. Stopped for drinks and more food which turned the constant toy fighting to 25 min of blissful play. Then we grabbed ice cream and all napped on the drive back. All in all successful but I bet DH never forgets another paci.
My firstborn was very fond of his plug (a NUK). And we were very good at forgetting it...so when we were out and about and he started requiring it, we would stop at a store & buy another for him to use. I think at one point we had at least a dozen around the house & car. ;)
His dad was the TA for a micro lab and while talking to some students during class he reached into his pocket for something and pulled out one of son's plugs. Ooops!

We had a bunch of Feds in our building (USDA collaborator peeps) - they always got the Fed holidays off while us poor statie schmucks had to work. :(

Yep, it'll be real fun. On the other hand, hopefully it will be pretty quiet so I can be productive.
