WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

If that's the case then anything short of an undefeated season and a 30 point win in the national title game will be an epic failure.

It's really hard to run the table, I would guess they drop a game or 2 in season but still predict them to win the Natty.

i dont think it'll be a problem, i follow some of the LSU women on instagram and they all seem to get along really well.
But practice and the season have not started yet. Wait till they start playing games I watched some of their games last year and there were times you could see issues between players wanting the ball and not getting it because another player wanted the spotlight. It will be interesting to see Kim handles any issues between players because there will be some as you have some real strong egos.

There may be big egos on the team but when Kim's ego is exponentially bigger, problem handled.

You can't argue with the success she's achieved. Personally I can't stand her style or methods, but she's a flat out great coach and seems to get the most out of her players. This superteam will definitely test her ability to maintain positive team chemistry and keep egos in check. I kind of have my doubts, this thing just seems set up perfectly for some serious fall-apart drama. Reese wasn't even the best player on her team in the title game, much less the best player on the court, and she's completely bulldozed the rest on the publicity front. Will the new additions, who are used to being the queens themselves, put up with it? We will see.

Reese is the wildcard IMHO. She got all of the attention with that silly and over the top queen thingie and all but did what Mulkey wanted on the court. She said she was leaving Maryland in part because she didn't want to play post and be in the paint all of the time (pretty much what she is best at) but post/paint/rebound is exactly what Mulkey had her doing at LSU.

I wasn't slamming Kim as much as I was praising her control of others. She's not large but she's in charge.

It will be interesting to see if she can keep the peace between players. Two new transfers were stars on their old teams and having watched Van Lith play in the 3x3 last year with Ashley and how she was at times a one player show not sure how she decides to just be another player.

Plus, Maryland has stricter academic requirements that LSU don’t care about as much.

LOL. Stanford of the east. Sounds like when Brenda dissed one of her graduate players transferring last year as "not being able to get into grad school at Maryland" which was mostly just a cheap shot at the gal. Like Brenda recruited her, or any player, in the first place because of her academic accomplishments.

While I mostly agree with you, in this case it has been well documented that this player did not qualify for many national awards because of her GPA. But apparently she doesn’t even need it or care about it much because of how much NIL she is getting. I wouldn’t care about academics much either if I was her TBH.

NIL $$$ from college won't last her forever. I hope she plays things smart because that kind of short-sightedness is how a lot of athletes end up broke.

Agree 100%. She will probably be making millions for at least a few more years and then mid to high 6 figures for a while after that. So I'm guessing she will clear about 10 to 15 million when it is all said and done.

The flopping rule is long overdue.

WBB NEEDED to add the change that MBB did on the block charge of having to establish defensive position on the plant instead of being airborne to reduce defenders jumping in front of offensive players and trying to draw charges. They did the opposite with removing the restricted arc.

Now that flops are no longer a personal foul they will increase exponentially. Especially if the opponent isn’t a good free throw shooter.

Killing time after workout and before walkabout and saw on the interweb that Iowa's Lisa Bluder has signed a contract extension through 2029. That would take her to age 68 so she might retire than? Anyway, not bailing after Clark leaves.

Do any coaches ever just retire at 63-65 or so if they are still being successful?
