i'm not understanding how this has any similarities to Bucky whatsoever other than the angle.

as for the tail feathers...i mean, that's what a cardinal looks like. the current version of barrel chested cy has some kind of turkey feather butt thing going on that i never understood.

Cy is a cardinal and his name is “Cy the Cardinal”. The reason we chose the cardinal as the mascot was because our school’s primary color is cardinal.

Agreed. It’s classy. Honestly, there’s some potential to add “State” to that somehow and revamp the IState logo.

It is quite amazing how the current AD has stayed with this logo, even though the vast majority hate it. Stranger still, perhaps, is the fact that we continue to carry the upside down poop emoji as an 'official' secondary, even though it rarely gets used.

The time is getting closer for a re-vamp in our school colors (add a darker gold) and changing our secondary logos.

I'm hoping that if we come up with some good examples, illustrations, they will listen.

@amestoplease, Can you make one with the Bottom half of your first Walking CY, and the Top half of your most recent barrelcy?

I prefer the legs and tail of the first one. I like the heads on both! Do this and you'd instantly have 2 new alternate logo possibilities (that I'd love anyway).

I'm not surprised at all that Jamie has stuck with his I-State logo. It was his rebrand. The closer we get to twenty years with it though, the more hope I have we go away from it finally. But... I like when teams use the outline only as a secondary. I think there's a place for it there. It's a terrible primary that hasn't helped brand recognition much.

I've lived on multiple coasts, nobody outside big xii country knows who I-State is. that could be so many schools. Not unique at all. Cyclones is totally unique, there isn't another one. Not even decent alternative uses for Cy at this point. Infuriating after seeing how well other schools market their alternate and old logos.

I have too. It's anecdotal. In my experience far more have no clue. Could be a school in any state that starts with an I. It's a fine logo without the bevels and should be used as a secondary.

This is exactly why we have it... brand recognition. For those people out there that don't know what Istate means (after 20 years), simply don't follow college sports.

Yeah it needs to be tweaked a bit. We really need to embrace alternate logos though. We have some awesome ones.

It is true that Cardinals do not have teeth.. but most Hoks fans don't either. I would rather distance ourselves from them.

I'm in the group that is fine with the I-State as primary. We should use the 3, and 2-color ones the most (sometimes just the 1-color). The 4-color version (beveled "I" and beveled "State") is overkill, doesn't look that good, and is dated. They can keep it, but maybe only for stationary, or documents! Best to just get rid of the 4 bevel one though.

Yes, and start using some of our historic secondary logos. We have some good ones, even if redesigned slightly, maybe even better.
