Jeremiah Williams to the transfer portal.

Disappointing but not shocking given Lipsey's development into the starting 1. Guessing Williams came here to be that, it didn't work out, and he's looking to be a starter somewhere else.

And, without knowing but guessing, he might be in line to graduate next week?
 
Plenty deep at guard with Lipsey, Watson, Hamilton, and the 3 transfers. We need a good post, so I'll add another cough.
Nelson/Jones/Ward at the five
Omaha/ King/ Milan at the four
Any combo of those six guards with that front court would be salty.

This is kind of what I was worried about. I'm actually not surprised.

I don't recall hearing that, although I wouldn't be the best go-to person for that info.

If anything, I'm a little surprised his decision to enter portal didn't come a little sooner after the other guard commitments. Maybe assessment took longer (for him and staff) and didn't get rolling until after Jones came aboard (he was mid-April, Gilbert & Pav early April).

I thought I'd hate the portal but now I'm liking it.
What the over/under on # of days till next portal addition announced? I'd say 5 days.
 
Good luck to him wherever he lands! The writing was on the wall. Now the question is do we backfill that spot, and if so, is it actually already filled?

I'd guess it has more to do with the academic calendar than the sports season calendar. Tough to go to class every day with everyone knowing you're out the door.

Didn’t see this one coming, but the move is understandable.

Williams is coming off of a devastating Achilles injury and would be trying to carve out time in a somewhat crowded guard room - thanks to the portal.

Gotta remember that the last time he played basketball was at Temple in the American conf. It’s already a big change going from that type of competition to the Big 12, and I imagine returning from an achilles injury, makes that even more difficult.

Would imagine he ends up at a decent mid major or low level power five team.
 
I didn't think there was any way that we'd go into next year with just the few 'bigs' we have on the roster. It was very odd to me that we added 3 guards and not one single big. But now it makes sense.

Same here, I thought for sure we would get two guards and one big with our initial three open spots. This clearly makes grabbing a big man more manageable.
 
Can only mean one thing— Lipseys
jumpshot has improved so much TJ told Williams he couldn’t take Tamin off the floor this year. That’s gotta be it.
