***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

.….If MN goes QB in round 1, you would have 3 steps done with many years to remaining in their careers. Then you can spend cap and draft capital on building out the defense and luxury wants.
If Kwesi knows he can get his cheap QB (Hooker or whom ever) with one of last two picks in the first round, what additional pick could the Vikes gain by going back 7 or 8 spots?

I’d be so pissed if the vikes drafted Hooker for the future. I just don’t see that going well. Trade up for Levis or Richardson. Or don’t take a QB this year. I can see Hooker ending up just like Mond.

Don’t know if Hooker is the guy either, but with the shortage of picks the Vikes already have, I’d be shocked to see Kwesi trade up.

With Addison on board, the Vikes will have to go CB at #87 (if they stand pat). Phillips from Utah or Smith from South Carolina would fit the bill.

I think they will go best value. Possibly a CB, but could be a few other positions if they like them more than a CB.

I have a suspicion that they will get another CB in a trade or free agency.

I still think we could see Cook or Hunter moved as part of a trade, today. Especially, if there's a guy they like. Neither of them are worth a 2nd round pick on their own, but could be added to a package. I can't see any way Cook is back next year on his current contract.

Hoping that the Vikings trade up to get a good CB. Exchange 3rd round picks with a team in the top 10 of the 3rd around and give them an extra 4 or 5 from next year draft. I would not trade an additional pick from this years draft. The Vikings only have a few picks this year and need to use the rest of their picks to address defensive needs.

Not a fan of Kwesi. Last year's draft was horrible, and this year's is off to a shaky start. Hope he bounces back and gets some good ones.

The quarterback crop next year, from what I've been hearing, is way better than this years crop. The Vikings have come out and said that the won't go after a QB just to settle on a QB. It will have to be a franchise altering QB. I think unless they trade up to get Levis, they won't be getting a QB...unless its' through FA or trade.

I haven't decided on him yet, but keep in mind that he is operating under a game plan dictated by the Wilfs that in my opinion is unrealistic. A "competitive rebuild" as they call it doesn't work when you pinned against the salary cap with an older QB eating a significant chunk of it.

None of those constraints caused a questionable trade on draft day last year and the top two picks that were buried on the depth chart on a horrible defense before they got hurt. Obviously it’s way too early to make any judgement on last years draft, but it is not off to a great start.

There's some school of thought our there that his trade in the second round ... again with a division rival ... was inspired. They traded a second round pick to Green Bay for two second round picks and a third round pick. I too questioned trading away their first round pick to Detroit, but the second round trade sort of balanced that out for me. They got picks 53 and 59 in exchange for pick 34, but in addition, got pick 90 to boot. Green Bay, on the other hand, could have likely still gotten the guy they wanted (Christian Watson) without trading away three picks and he may have fallen to them in the second round anyway.

Many of the players in last years draft were injured this past season. Kwesi also was able to trade for Hockenson. I wasn't against the Addison selection as they will need another quality receiver to take some pressure away from Jefferson.

But the team is in a near complete rebuild mode, especially on defense. They can't splurge in FA due to their salary cap. They only have 5 draft picks this season. The team needs to get rid of Cook as his costs are way too high for the value he brings this team, and the Vikings have some quality RB players behind Cook at a fraction of the price.

Frankly, this has the making of a 5-8 win season. The North is Detroit's to lose

Last year's draft is TBD, to be honest. Its going to take a lot of things to go write, but if they get healthy, Cine, Booth and Evans could all be starters long term. I think Asamoah will be nice at LB and Ed Ingram could develop into a solid Guard. If all of that happens, then last year's draft would be pretty good.

And I don't think you can say this year is off to a shaky start. If they had Addison similarly rated to CBs like Banks and Porter, Jr, then yeah, I think they should have gone CB. As it stands now, they are probably looking at CBs like Terell Smith of MN or Cory Trice of Purdue at 87. If they didn't have Banks or Porter, Jr rated that much better than those guys, but they had Addison rated way ahead of any WR possibilities at 87, then taking Addison makes a ton of sense.

I feel optimistic with Flores at DC though. That could have an impact. I also think they'll get 1 more FA CB that fits Flores' mold.

For all we know, Flores likes what they've got at CB and would rather have a lower cost free agent/trade than a rookie CB.

The other side of this is the front office is seeing this as a longer term rebuild and Addison is more of a sure thing. I think there is zero risk that he turns out to be a complete bust. Maybe not a star, but a floor of a solid #2 or #3. The first round caliber CBs probably have a higher risk of being a bust.
