Glad the Vikes took a corner, but they must have seen something most didn’t. Seeing 5th and 6th round grades for Blackmon. Klatt said good things from his time in Boulder, so we’ll see.

Another positive- if you put any stock into PFF, Blackmon was second only to Witherspoon in their ratings for last year for all CBs in the draft.

Yeah the GM has his analytics and he sticks to them. No matter what. I don't always understand it. But if his strategy doesn't work, he'll be shown the door fairly quickly

Here's how I see it. As an armchair GM, we can see the glaring holes in the team. We need a wideout, corner, D-lineman, etc. That's easy enough to see. But individual prospect evaluations? We don't know. We can go by the rankings that the talking heads have, but they don't really know that much more, especially beyond the top of the draft. They've seen some film, but that's about it. So, when it comes to judging a draft, I look to see what holes were filled and reserve judgment on the picks until they actually play. Trust the actual GM who has studied each of these players, and evaluated them on not only their overall talent, but their fit with the team and scheme.

But you're basing that on what? The rankings of some talking head who gets more wrong than they do right? One injury plagued draft class that hasn't even seen its second season yet? If the evidence bares out that he's a poor drafter, then by all means, we should cut ties, but it's far, far too early to be throwing in the towel, now.
Minnesota is coming off of a division title and only the 3rd 13 win season in franchise history in this regime's first year at the helm. Kwesi isn't going anywhere any time soon, nor should he.
Last season was a smoke and mirrors illusion. Even KO has admitted that. Based on contributions from the 2022 class , the Vikings had the worst draft of all NFL teams. My biggest knock on him is he’s starting to remind me of Spielman. But to support your point, I’ve seen the so-called analysts grade the Blackmon pick everywhere from A- to an F. lol.

Smoke and mirrors or no, 13 wins is 13 wins. Nobody accidentally gets 13 wins in the NFL.
I kinda go back and forth on this. You don't win 13 games by accident, but you can get a number of those wins in really stupid ways that aren't likely to be repeated....which did happen. I'd probably feel better about it if they showed up against NYG in the playoffs.
Kind of what I was going to say- what did they get out of it? A lower draft pick and getting beat at home in a playoff game. I’ll take two years of suckitude to get players that can make a difference. The Wilfs’ strategy of a ‘competitive rebuild’ is a recipe not necessarily for disaster, but more of the same results we’re used to.
