Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

We think it's the youngest of the three. Probably got bumped out by the oldest one when the big boy was testing his wings and the little dude was trying to poop over the edge. They will turn around and try and poop out of the nest, or in this case a tree cavity. Raptor Ctr dude was telling us a lot owlets fall out and the parents will just feed them on the ground but in this park with all of the dogs and people it was best to try and perch in back into a tree.

Here are the two left in the nest.

That one on the left looks kind of grumpy. lol

Lew had MOHS surgery on his nose last month...it was quick and relatively easy. Those little ones are NBD, but best to take care of them. Anyone over 30 should get a baseline screening from a dermatologist, especially if they spend a lot of time in the sun. People our age get these things all the time. Left untreated they can become a problem...but if treated, not so much.
I had Mohs surgery on a small basal cell spot on the bridge of my nose last year. It was pretty quick but that one wasn't fun. It felt like I'd been punched in my nose for a few days. It did end up healing pretty well.

I was never on the board, but people (public) have always assumed radio pay is great. Ever hear of minimum wage?
I have never been so tired in my life as when I was working two jobs including 4 overnights a week at WOI and taking classes at ISU. If I had 15 minutes free I was taking a catnap.

Lew's was right where the nose-piece of his glasses sits. It bruised pretty good. He was telling everyone that he pissed me off and I clocked him upside the head with a cast-iron skillet! They did a really good job on the repair - even when his glasses are off, you can barely see the scar.

Goofing off and procrastinating when I should be filing taxes.
You have 3 days.

Welp.
Here we go again.
After a routine CT last week showed that a nodule in the lower left lobe of his lungs had grown from 9mm to 13mm in the past year, Lew underwent a PET scan yesterday. Results: the nodule lit up, and a section of his sigmoid colon also lit up.
So now he starts a new round of diagnositics. Lung biopsy next week, coloonoscopy in a couple of months (he's on a wait list to get it done sooner).
His CLL is unchanged, so that's good. His oncologist is optimistic. Doc R says that IF the lung nodule comes back as cancerous, it's isolated and a "simple" surgical fix would be the likely route...no chemo or radiation. And the bowel could very well be just a random irritation since Lew has no other symptoms, and had a clean colonoscopy just 2 years ago.

Bah.
Just had to vent. We're both thinking on the positive side. It's the damned hurry up & wait diagnostics that wear us down. New doctors, multiple appts,.. It's hard to plan future activities when you don't know what's going on with your health.
My mom just had a lobe of her lung taken out because there was a small nodule on it. She also had a tumor in her colon taken out about 11 years ago and went through chemo, and the lung nodule was there all this time, but it was so small and so slow growing it was never noticed until now. She did a calcium heart scan or something, because she just turned 60, that caught it. No chemo this time though. Doctor said the 2 growths were different carcinomas.

Lew's CLL was discovered accidentally too. Routine chest xray for ex-smoker led to a CT because of finding a cavitary lesion in his lung, which then led to a PET scan back in 2017. PET "lit up like a Christmas tree" per his doc. The lesion was histoplasmosis, the head was a sinus infection, the armpit was CLL, and oh yeah, there was a kidney stone. Wheeeeeeeee....
Lew keeps threatening to stop going in for routine physicals...but my point is that when these things are found early, they are MUCH more treatable. Glad your mom is okay!

A transcribed voice mail I got.

“Hi this is Charlotte with ______ and I was just calling to let you know that your sandwich striation is expiring that your system for work management and I just want to let you know because if it's not ring _____ time you're not considered for government ________________ the selection”

I cut off the last 2/3 but I gotta find out what is going on with my sandwiches.

Listened to the Twins White Sox game today, there was a commercial by the city of chicago about how amazing it is said if they didn't want to be amazing they would be Cleveland. LOL it made me laugh some good old fashioned between cities smack talk.
