I hope Jelani sticks it out if he doesn't get much playing time next year. Pretty smooth stroke and nice length. I think he could develop into a really nice player
well. maybe he'll be in the deep rotation, who knows? Play as much as Watson did? I'm hoping he's more high major ready than King was. But no pressure on him. Besides... Its not like we've filled out our transfer group......yet.

Here is what I saw on the Wofford site;
41% 3 point shooter
85% free throws
6’3”
Conference freshman of the year.

He may never be a great defender, but I would think with coaching he would improve. But this is speculation on my part. My original comment was based upon the belief that a good shooter surrounded with 4 very good defenders could be a winning combo.

Portal season is the time for speculation and opinion for us fans. I certainly have no special insight.
I don't understand why people think he wont be a good defender. He's also much more than just a shooter. Only 35% of his shot attempts were 3's. For comparison, Grill was at 79% and Kalscheur was 55%. Paveletzke is more athletic and quicker than he's being given credit for. If he's athletic enough to get to the basket regularly, he's athletic enough to be a good defender.

The good thing is his team plays high major teams almost every game. So he may not be big 12 ready but he is used to playing the best of the best. Which bodes well for playing time

I actually know a player who he plays against that told me “he can’t guard anyone” and “Iowa State will have to work a lot on his defense before they can count on him to guard anyone”

was this a player he played against in high school ..,or in college?
I just like the fact he doesn't have to either shoot a 3 or pass (as in Grill)
I bet TJ can improve his defense A LOT !!

I think this is the 3rd offseason out of 3 or 4 with it so we're almost through. I think the 2020 class gets one? I'm not sure
If a player took a red shirt, we can see 6 year guys through the 25-26 season. Example would be Hunter Dekkers.

At this point I'll say a push at 1. The team likes to highlight one commit and let them have their day. Tommorow being a holiday, Id imagine its quiet. Feeling there may already be a silent commit if not 2 already and just waiting for official announcement

I know some on this site would call this blasphemy, but what if Gilbert is better and a higher producer than Lipsey? Could you tolerate Lipsey getting backup minutes? I feel it makes the team more valuable having that type of player coming off the bench

Can he dribble more than one dribble Grill?
