***2022-23 MBB General Thread***

When he was 31 years old and working for the Fresno Bee? Wow. You've got a great memory and must do a ton of reading.
I do, Sir Arsehole. I do. Now why don't you take your smug ass somewhere else.

He had posts that were showing on the ESPN site in the spring of 2000. My brain functions well (most days) and my recall is specific as to this event. I didn't care for his take then, and I don't care for it now.

I don't think Katz is particularly hard on ISU

I don't know that he is nowadays. I do, however, believe he is a bit homerific when it comes to the B1G, still. IT was likely his B1G bias that made him appear dismissive of ISU back in 2000.

There are likely structural factors that lend to that appearance. I also freely admit that I am not dispassionately objective when it comes to Iowa State.

He's collecting a check from BTN/FOX. He's definitely a Big Ten guy through and through.

When a team has a dude wearing long sleeves, they don't mess around on defense. Obviously Not worried about sweating too much.

Next we are gonna see a guy wearing a hoody under his jersey.

Hey go back in time, Patrick Ewing made tshirts under the jersey a thing for a while. I might have jumped on that bandwagon back in the day.

Andy katz puts his bracket out and he is adamant that the big ten is the top conference. Has them rolling everyone. Penn State taking out us in the sweet 16, Iowa beating Houston because houston can't keep up with Iowa's scoring. Purdue taking it all.

I'll be a little surprised if Iowa gets out of the 1st round.

Omg just look at this dumbfuckery.

He has ZERO losses in the first round for the Big Ten.

Penn State elite 8

Indiana and Purdue in Final Four

Purdue champs

Just making those picks is dumb. He knows what he's doing though; if that doesn't happen it will be the 'beat up on each other' mantra and B1G fans will eat it up.

'The B1G has teams that are capable of winning a couple of games, maybe more with the right situation' is a reasonable take that he just won't touch.

Honestly this is basically what ESPN did in the 2000’s to pump up the SEC in football.

While the Big 12 was pumping out NFL caliber quarterbacks and offenses where putting up crazy stats, all we heard on ESPN was how tough the SEC defenses were.

Made the mistake of turning on First Take and two people picked Indiana to make the final four. Wtf. They aren't that good. And not a Big 12 team to be found in either of their final fours.

Wasn't even on TV. Final score of 54-53 and I think it was just one ugly game.
Unfortunately I was there. And yes, it was ugly. Soon after the photos from Missouri were published and Eustachy's time at ISU was coming to an end. I remembering him stating that "my last game at ISU cannot be a loss to the Hawks".
