It’s time we talk about Gabe

Not sure I can think of a guy that has improved this much. He’s the Big 12 player of the year right now. He never gets tired, shuts everyone down. Just a fantastic player.
Yep.

So even keeled as he's putting the dagger in the other teams best players and nailing shots.

His confidence in the 15 foot range is so killer....and it's becoming MOST 3s feel like they are going in when they leave his hand.

He, of course, won’t get that because he plays at Iowa State, but his performance in conference should force the discussion.
We stay at #1 and they won't be able to ignore him. That is if we beat that Nowell guy again, man he was dangerous

As one of the best guards not just in the Big 12, but in the entire country.

Also a couple shoutouts are in order:

1. Holmes for having a big game when Grill couldn’t be anything more than a decoy for most of the night.
2. Grill for being the toughest SOB on the floor tonight and hitting a big shot even with his back injury.

I wish we had Holmes for two or three years. He’s already one of my favorite players of the last 20 seasons. Just tough, and consistently makes the right play. He’s so much better than I would have predicted he’d be.

Babb is just in the rear view so everyone forgets how good he was for us.
I don't forget at all. Right now you can make a strong case that Gabe is the best player on the team and probably worthy of first team all conference consideration at this point. Could you ever say that about Babb?

Always have supported and liked Gabe. Still pisses me off that Gabe haters wanted Otz to cut Gabe loose this last offseason. In their opinion Gabe just wasn’t good enough. Otz was not a good choice for ISU coach according to them as well. I am left wondering what Otz could have done after Fred. But thankful that Pollard got his guy finally.

yeah...the broadcast team tonight was just a little off base here and there
loved when the announcer said tonight's winner would have 'sole' possession of first place in the big 12. Well....uh, we had to win to make both our records 6-2. lol.

With tie breakers over the other two

When it comes to the title though, there are no tiebreakers. If 5 teams finish the year with 12-6 records because this conference is just that nuts, we have 5 champions. Only thing it matters at that point is for seeding.

The best part about this was the TV announcers saying that the refs were icing Grill with that extended officials timeout near the end, and right on cue Grill nails the most confident looking free throws the entire night.
I can’t comment on the announcers, but I certainly had thoughts about that as it was happening. Spent three minutes reviewing, called the players out, then spent two more freaking minutes. Glad, after all that, we were able to correct the clock and add the appropriate 0.4 seconds.

I was nervous right until the ball came out of his hands. He knew that was going in before he took the shot. Stone cold killer.

KSU had some talented looking guards but none are the total package that Gabe is the way he is shooting lately and always defending.

He's well past Babb. He's an All-American with his play

K State guy on CF podcast was calling one of their guys an All American (I’m not even sure which). I wouldn’t trade Gabe for one of them.

The conference is elite, maybe they all are.

Once again he was the close out player interview for JW on the post game show. He is loving his time at ISU.
