NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Ultimately it's not going to be a perfectly equitable resolution for all teams. Given the virtually unprecedented nature of the situation, whatever team ends up with the short straw is just going to have to suck it up and deal, be it a team we root for or not.
If the outcome is still in doubt after this coming weekend, then roll the first round of the playoffs back a week, and play the game that weekend. Looking at the playoff schedule they still have 2 weeks from the championship weekend till the Super Bowl, with the pro bowl on the weekend in between. So there is an opening in the schedule, play these games on a Saturday and the pro bowl BS on Sunday, or the other way around.

Theres not really a circumstance where the outcome is not in doubt after this weekend.

A Chiefs win and the #1 seed is in play with Cincy win/KC going to 1 seed.
A Chiefs loss and the #3 seed is in play with Cincy win/KC going to 3 seed.

Option 1 means more to both teams in regards to the bye week, but option 2 still involves a home game/road game.

A KC win this Saturday means Cincy has no shot at #1, but Buffalo would if they beat NE and the game gets made up. A KC loss opens up the #1 to both Buffalo and Cincy with wins this weekend and the game being made up.

Correct... think we saying same thing here. Theres no way the game doesn't matter in regards to playoff seeding. (My comment specifically regarding Chiefs seeding, but also affects Buffalo/Cincy, and I think Baltimore as well).

Gotcha.

Chiefs vs Buffalo potential AFC championship would be in Atlanta. Really thought first off should be in Kansas City or at least outdoors.

The way it was setup it wasnt going to be in Kc. If its not the Bills it would be in Kc. There might be a Bengals issue tho as well, not sure

I know but I still haven't gotten over it. To me either finish the Bills Bengals game or go by winning percentage. Neutral shouldn't be an option. Bills essentially got a bye, didn't play one of their toughest games, finished behind in winning percentage and end up with a neutral game

But the Bills also lost the opportunity for a first round bye and to host the AFC championship game. The bye is the single most important thing and they lost that opportunity.

I’m as big a Chiefs fan as you’ll find and I think this is pretty fair, and overall the Chiefs came out ahead on the deal.

I really don't think they'd had won at Cincinnati tbh. Cincy is playing as well as anyone. They essentially did get a bye that week too as far as recovery. I don't think Miami without Tua and possibly Teddy poses much threat. We do have a much easier potential 2nd round matches I'll concede. Maybe I'm being unfair though to your points. 1st option is finishing the game

I personally think it's not gonna matter. I think Bengals beat Buffalo in Buffalo. And honestly, Chargers could beat Chiefs.

I could see that playing out as well my friend. Maybe I'll table my complaints and just root for Jacksonville, Miami, and Baltimore for now

The Chiefs only came out ahead if the Bills would have came back and won the game. I tend to think that the Bengals would have won, they were ahead, driving when the injury occurred and were at home. Cincinnati wins that game, then KC is hosting all the way through.

The only thing that worked in the Chiefs favor is that the Bills and Bengals have to play each other, while KC gets the lowest seed, for their first round game. But if the game had been replayed and the Bengals won, that still would have occurred.

While I also think the Bengals has a good shot at winning… it was 7-3 in the first, and Hamlin went down on the 3rd drive of the game. It hardly required a big comeback for the Bills to win, the game was just getting going.

Getting the bye week and locking the Bills and Bengals into the semis together is two huge wins for the chiefs. The only single potential negative is the neutral field which only occurs if the Bills win two including against the Bengals. Looking at it objectively, I don’t understand the complaining. Looking at it as a Chiefs fan… yeah I still don’t get the complaining.

I wonder if the injury would have happened in the second half and either team was winning by 3 if they would have just called the game right at that time and score.

So it’s gonna be Chargers at Chiefs.

I have wanted nothing to do with the Chargers now that they’re healthy. I hate saying it but think Chiefs lose that one.
