***CFB Transfer Portal 2022-23 thread***

Tarique Milton played his Senior year at Texas. Had 2 catches for 40 yards.
Isheem Young played his Senior year at Ole Miss. Played in 13 games. 66 tackles (5 per game), 1.5 tfl, 1 interception, 2 pass break ups.

I think those were our two most notable transfers out. Craig MacDonald went to Auburn, this would have been just his sophomore year so he could yet be something. He did nothing in 2022. They went 5-7.
Isheem was a junior. Datrone Young played at Duke and had his best year as a college player. He wasn’t missed because of Tampa and Purchase. Joey Ramos started (only because of injury) his first and only game at Arizona State but was injured in the first half and missed the rest of season.

Agreed- I lumped him in with a transfer since he was a JUCO transfer, but that’s correct, he wasn’t a transfer portal transfer.

Transfer portal and JuCo are completely different. Why lump him with college portal transfers?

It’s two different ways to leave one team and go to another…same result, different methods of transferring

Difference is that EVERY JuCo will be transferring at least after their Sophomore season. They must transfer. And JuCo players are not required to get a release from their school. The Transfer Portal is D1 athletes. Lump X Hutchinson with the many JuCo’s we have had
in the last 50+ years. JuCo’s are not a new thing like the transfer portal.

I understand there are differences- it’s still an athlete leaving one school and going to another. Get over it.

Xavier Hutchinson will Never be labeled as a college transfer portal player. He is a JuCo Transfer that was very successful. Like Seneca, Crutchfield, etc. So why aren’t JuCo’s listed on the college transfer portal? Because they are not the same. It was a stupid comparison. Case closed.

High school.

Dude- yours is a stupid perspective, it’s still kids leaving one school for another, just different methods. I understand it’s two different ways to transfer. It’s still a TRANSFER. We disagree- get over it. Not everyone is as smart as you are- you should just accept it.

Is MJ Anderson for sure going through the draft process? In all the “mock drafts” I don’t see him being selected in any of them. I think he could benefit from coming back and getting more tape.

X leaving his JuCo, or “transferring” in your words, would be the same thing as a high school kid leaving his high school to come to ISU. His time was up at that school and must move on to the next steps.

A transfer is an athlete choosing to leave their school to transfer to another. JuCo’s are more similar to a high school recruit than they are to a college transfer.

Yikes, what a mistake that would be if true. God some of these athletes get the worst possible advice from friends/family

JUCO guys are not the same as portal guys. They can’t be lumped together. It’s silly to try.

Well stated. He would have been more correct lumping JuCo’s with HS recruits.

NO. Wrong. Dwayne Crutchfield was the first Cyclone JuCo recruit to gain 1,000 yards. Played his Junior and Senior seasons at Iowa State.

My Juco defensive back coach played against him while Crutchfield was at Wartburg. He said Crutchfield had been hurt 3 times in the same game. One of the times he was loaded into the ambulance and it was taking off. All of a sudden, the ambulance stopped and the back doors flew open and Crutchfield came running back on the field.

I had also heard stories that he was so out of shape at ISU, that when he would come into the huddle after a play, he would be sucking wind real bad and some the players would tell him he shouldn't have partied so hard the night before.
