Yep, we have nothing to lose. It’s probably a good thing that miles got a good game out of the way. I guess it’s possible that our slow style messes with them some. We’re going to have to get back and prevent the fast break. But they also present a huge challenge because Dixon runs pick and roll every time. If we switch that leaves a small player on lampkin. Tough to defend that.

Honestly, this is a game where I’d love to have George Conditt. He was really good at defending pnr as a big.

The contrast in styles is going to be very interesting to watch - I think, at times, our defense can be vulnerable to the early offense, before the defense is fully set, so getting back and playing D early is definitely going to be a key. The way TCU pushed the ball the entire game was very impressive.

I'm absolutely convinced we've struggled in that building because of lack of atmosphere. It sounds crazy that a flat atmosphere on the road would hurt the visitor, but when you are used to playing in a raucous atmosphere like Hilton it has to be weird to play in silence.

I felt like they were in trouble even last year when Moser came in and basically tried to build the foundation of the program on the backs of some low and mid major transfers. Some of those guys have turned out to be ok players, but their ceiling is so low compared to most of the rest of the conference. Their move to the SEC might save them from going into total tank mode, as they will have some easier wins to come by than they do currently. But I would not be surprised if Moser ends up running them aground before too long.

The way TCU pushed the ball the entire game was very impressive.

TCU's ball movement is fast and effective. OU did a pretty good job with our defense but TCU is better offensively. We're going to have to get them out of their comfort zone. Gotta box out as they like to crash the offensive glass hard and Big Eddie Lampkin is a load to move down there. They aren't a great 3 point shooting team so don't let them get easy ones to gain confidence.

Offensively it'll be important to shoot effectively and not get sped up. Make TCU have to take the ball out of the basket because their best offense comes off a missed basket on the other end.

Gonna be an extremely tough game to win but it's not impossible.

Years ago, I would resale tickets on StubHub for fun. During Hield's senior year I was able to buy single game tickets for Kansas at Oklahoma for around $30 directly from the AD. I thought for sure I'd be able to flip those for around $100 per. I may have gotten $40 for them. I was shocked.

See, I actually think they'd fare better in the Big 12 as right now it's the overall best conference by far and you could sell that to recruits. I think going to the SEC is going to put them on a level similar to Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Hell, Mizzou used to have a VERY passionate fan base. They appear to be better this year but they've drawn terribly for years now. I think our game down there a few years ago was their highest attended one in a LONG time.

Looking at the numbers - they are both a bad 3pt shooting team (~31%) and take almost the fewest of any team. That definitely plays into our strengths- but also probably means they go 15-25 for the game.

One very interesting statistical data point is regarding a "Proximity" metric - the site I like (https://haslametrics.com/ratings2.php?yr=&tid=155) uses this metric. We are top 2 in the country in limiting opponents shots at the rim - and TCU is top 2 offensively in getting shots at the rim. That will be a huge part of this game - can we force TCU into taking jump shots or will they get to the rim (fast breaks and offensive rebounds mainly)

I think a lot of it is TJ’s demeanor. Most coaches, including ISU’s previous, freak out and yell at the refs and the team feels the panic. But TJ stays calm and just goes to work.

Exactly, how many coaches would have lost their mind when Lipsey was tackled on the in bounds. Instead, he rallied the team around him.

Someone mentioned it in the game forum I believe. Last year we struggled in conference play and went undefeated with non-con. This year we’re kind showing the ability to play in conference play (though early). I think March is definitely in our sights. What a great feeling!

IMO we are built to frustrate teams that like to push the ball and play with tempo.

I was listening to the radio and Heft said the side of the backboard is inbounds, so if the ball doesn't bounce out of bounds it's still in play. I honestly didn't know that, so don't know if it's accurate or not. The home crowd clearly thought it should have been their ball.

Thats correct...the backboard is on play, the sides and the top.
Only the basket supports....like a cable which is seen in many HS or AAU type settings in OB.

Man that TCU-Baylor game was fun to watch after our game. Just a balls to the wall shootout with a great finish. I am psyched about our game on Saturday at TCU.
