As of now do we expect this storm to impact travel going into Sunday?
I'll take dated radar with great interpretation/analysis (WHO) vs the inverse (KCCI)
One of my favorite things about CF is that I come here and only here for weather forecasts outside of general temps/conditions on my phone weather app. Now, if people would start catering to me and providing up to the hour snow and wind forecasts for Waukee, it’d be even betterI don’t like kcci either. I like the mix Channel 5 has between radar and personalities.
They are actually quite a bit better than Kcci now.Channel 5 has a weather department? The channel is still on the air??
Honestly, this. Personnel they have the best, but their radar stuff sucks.Channel 13 radar capabilities = 2004

That dude was money.Back in the day there was a guy on Rivals that would give forecasts that seemed to be tailored to a person's street. He'd tell you when it was going to start snowing and when travel would be OK and when it would get dicey.
His forecasts were the only reason I stuck with Rivals as long as I did and the only thing I miss about it.

He owned a commercial weather forecasting company. His clients included large farm operations and other companies looking for very precise forecasts.

Freese-NotisYep...I think Freeze Notice or something like tht.
Because I think it is a damn near guarantee many of us will be in one on Thursday night/Friday here is the criteria for a blizzard warning. Big note-it has nothing to do with amount of snow fallen, it is wind speed and visibility based.
"The NWS issues a Blizzard Warning when falling and/or blowing snow combines with strong winds to create dangerously low visibility over at least a three hour period. The threshold for wind is frequent gusts over 30 knots and visibility is frequently less than a quarter mile."
And a great recent article from the GOAT of weather data Daryl Herzman.
