Sarcasm aside, I can see a day 50 years from now, where Soccer is a bigger NCAA sport than football. Perhaps cultivating a strong soccer culture NOW playing at JTS could lead to ISU being a future power! Just a thought that I have had myself.Maybe ISU should field a soccer team instead of football. It seems like we want a low scoring game, and soccer sure fills the bill.![]()

Remember that there is Title IX requirement that we need to be compliant. There are budget/financial impacts if we want to create a new men's sports.
The only ones we have are Football, Basketball, Golf, Track & Field and Wrestling.Soccer is growing in America. I get the title 9 thing but I’m wondering if it would be wise to drop another mens sport so we could get a team together. Probably not but mens soccer would be a better sport to have than baseball. Even though I’m a baseball fan.
With college baseball's early start to the season and seemingly greater expenses, it does seem like soccer would be a better option even though I too am a bigger baseball fan. Financially doesn't make sense to do either now though.Soccer is growing in America. And Cross Country. Does Track & Field count as two since it has indoor and outdoor? The only ones we have are Football, Basketball, Golf, Track & Field and Wrestling.
Not too many options for dropping a Men's sport

Big 10 only has 9 soccer schools so I wonder if we could join them to make it 10.Assuming a fully-funded program, that would make ISU's scholarships 54.8% male/45.2% female. The enrollment at the university this fall is 54.8% male/45.2% female.
The bigger issue is that men's soccer isn't a Big 12 sport. West Virginia plays in the Sun Belt (along with two SEC schools). Iowa State would have to play in the MAC or Missouri Valley.
UCLA will make it 10 in a couple of years (not that 11 wouldn't work either).Big 10 only has 9 soccer schools so I wonder if we could join them to make it 10.
I wonder if the Big 12 requires the logo on the field or not.How would the conference thing work with the field. The artificial field has the Big 12 logo on it. Would that cause any issues.
I’d like to see adding men’s soccer but like o th era don’t know how feasible it is.
