Great class coming in? We will hit the portal hard and offer immediate playing time to some gifted athletes? Team size, speed and talent is going in the right direction? Special Teams will become ...well... special? Margin play will be where it's supposed to be?
This ain't looking good folks. I need a beer and a hug. Mostly beer. Maybe a gummie?

If we fire Manning, hire a good offensive guy and Dekkers or Brecht can go to the next level. Dekkers has had one half season as a starter with a terrible offensive coach and a bad line. I would like to see him be with a good coach and a solid up front line. He is pushing and scared back there. I don’t blame him.

We have a STUD QB currently committed. Other than that we’re still going to lack talent at WR, OL, and TE. Our RB room doesn’t have nearly the depth people think. Defense has some promising talent if it doesn’t get poached by NIL.

Until there is a shakeup in the offensive staff I don't have a ton of optimism. I know that there is lots of talk about how we can compete in the future Big12 but we need to get better on offense. We might not have to overcome the Texas and OU talent but the rest of the league is still very solid and UCF and Cincy are going to be good in the league too. We have a lot to prove to say we are a top half program in the future Big12

Good for next year
1. Noel will be back and I think Stanley can use a covid year.
2. Brock and Norton both completely healthy
3. QB with a year of starting experience (needs to find way more consistency to keep his job with a borderline 5 star QB coming in)
4. Heacock and his D
5. Punter and Kicker back. Both been mostly really good. Punter needs to work on getting it off quicker, kicker just work on not letting a miss snowball into 3 misses in a game

Bad for next year
1. X and McDonald gone
2. Offensive line. I’m not gonna get caught up in the inevitable offseason hype that they’re looking good. It’s been bad for 6 years now with it getting worse
3. TE have shown little to no blocking ability
4. WR blocking also is bad

Currently, what is ISU football's identity?

If ISU comes out at least looking sharp today with some form of identity, perhaps the potential is there but I don't know now.

Defense should be solid as long as Heacock is here. You hope guys like Dekkers, Brock, Norton, Noel, and guys on the line improve. Nothing suggests to me the line will improve unless a change is made with Myers.

The optimism comes from a major offensive staff shakeup and Campbell giving up all oversight of offensive playcalling. Outside of that, scooping your dog’s steaming loafs is roughly equivalent

I don't think with NIL we can assume anyone is back, especially in defense. The bags of cash are coming for damn near that entire defense.

Were reverting to our recruiting ranking.
I hope you appreciated the Fiesta Bowl, that was a top unlikely to be tested anytime soon if ever. The bottom is the the last few years of Rhodes era, hoping we dont double bottom here.

Where does ISU rank in the conference?

I thought I saw they were middleish of the conference, with like KSU near the bottom. What's KSU's excuse for drilling OSU today?

I need to do some research, but I really have zero optimism at this point. It doesn’t matter who you put at QB when the talent around him is lacking. We have zero offensive line talent. On top of that, I don’t know that Noel can step up and be the dude at WR, and the TE room is bare right now as well. Not to mention the RB room seems lacking in talent.

I do think the defense will continue to show out as long as Heacock is here. So if the offense can improve to just being mediocre they might give us a chance to win some games

It’s weird because for the 22 years I’ve been alive and going to games I’ve sat through so much bad football. I don’t get why this feels so different than any other year. I’m afraid we might look back at the 2020 Big 12 championship as the beginning of the downturn, when we had the chance to take that next step and missed it.

Yeah there will probably be a couple defections but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now

Well our group after 21 years of season tickets were probably not going to renew because of health reasons but watching this offense has made a very tough decision pretty easy. Man this sucks.

Offensive line. Receivers who can separate or win one-on-one matchups against defensive backs. Think Butler or Lazard. Another Charlie Kolar. Gotta find these guys in the portal.

Great crowd today for a last place program. I’ll be back next week.

Not as excited about the new sculpture as I thought I would be.

Middle of the road, so we played above and now below our ranking, which averages out to our ranking.
