"Permanent" rivals announced for basketball until OUT leaves

Only ours is really the forced one though. Everyone else fits in. I guess UCF/Houston is a bit of a stretch but they've been in the same conference forever.

I thought we played BYU in basketball several years ago, and it was a pretty good game.

I think they might be rivals with TCU kind-of, but most of these matchups seem to be regional. I think it pretty much makes sense. I suppose if they swapped that it would be TCU vs. BYU and Iowa State vs. Baylor as the rivalries lol

If we didn't get a Big 8 rival, its a good draw. Both have good homecourt advantages - should be some good games between the two of us.

Kansas/Kansas St
Oklahoma/Oklahoma St
Texas/Texas Tech
Baylor/TCU
Cincinnati/West Virginia
Houston/UCF
Iowa St/BYU

Thoughts? I wanted Oklahoma State personally but I get it. BYU is a good draw. They'll be a Q1 road win every year and a good game to get at home as well.
Does this mean we’d never play them on a Sunday?

So with 12 teams and 18 league games, we will still play 7 teams h/h every year right? There doesn't seem to be much need for protected rivals. If we have to have them though, my preference would be getting matched up with the old big 8 schools. BYU wouldn't be at the top of my list but its a solid matchup.
