I found a simulator in which you can select teams from different years (or the same year) and see what the line would’ve been on a neutral field. Obviously it’s all moot because none of the games happened, plus they only take in account the stats of the year, not the overall records. Here’s how since 2017 would’ve shaken up.

2017 : ISU (-20.5) 94%
2018 : ISU (-7.5) 74%
2019 : ISU (-4.5) 65%
2020 : ISU (-29) 99%
2021 : ISU (-3.5) 61%
2022 : ISU (-4) 62%

Again, none of this matters, because we’d only have seen Nebraska in a bowl game, but even that would’ve been impossible because they literally couldn’t make one.

Aside from the Nebraska/ISU angle that's a pretty cool experiment.

So many matchups to explore.

Campbell at ISU 2016-2021 - 44-34

Nebraska 2016-2021 - 28-41

Why would he leave for a program that has been much worse than ISU over his tenure at ISU?
Maybe to get paid the big moola for being the proven guy to turn it around...

Don't want Campbell for Nebraska and his teeth and team ******** for an excuse. He wouldn't fit.

He would definitely win at Nebraska. 7 wins will get you fired in Lincoln. I don't want him. No thanks.

He looks surprised too often.
Your worry is not hiring a coach who looks surprised, but getting your fan base out of 25 years of depression.

Because it’s Nebraska and they can afford any kind of money.
So can the other schools and NFL teams who have wanted him and he said no. Iowa State has offered him more money than he makes and he wants the raises to go to his staff instead.

He doesn’t even have an agent, which is another indicator he’s not trying to get the most money he can.

Every single year the argument of “well they pay more” comes up and every single year it doesn’t matter to Matt. His name will forever be brought up because he’s a phenomenal coach but also because the national media has zero respect for ISU or the Big 12.

There have been a few coaches that reach a good place and quit chasing dollars Snyder and Ferentz at the p5 level and others that I'm drawing a blank at lower level but smaller school in the T.C. (St. Johns?) That coach stayed there forever and had a really good record.

Yep. The same thing happened to KF early in his career. Constantly tied to any NFL openings. Some in the media cannot understand how not every coach insists on taking every opportunity viewed as a next step.

Oh that’s fun. Can you do the same time frame but record against only teams that ended the regular season with winning records?

Delete this bogus thread...I swear non-ISU trolls come here just to bump this thread and attempt to create anxiety.
Enough. Campbell isn't going anywhere. He certainly isn't going to let this BS distract from a good start to the season.

Honestly, his quote posted earlier about being concerned about how college football is going and less focus on developing young men makes me feel even better (to note, as I’ve already said multiple times in this thread, I’ve never for a heartbeat thought he’d leave for Nebraska). While everyone has a part to blame, Nebraska is in one or two conferences that have done the most damage to what Campbell cares most about in regards to the job. They’re the conferences most aggressively working to make this just another professional league. I don’t think he would want any part in that unless either it’s a dream school opening or we’ve gotten to the point where other college teams don’t exist outside of those conferences.
I almost wonder if things continue the way the are going at some point he just says **** it I'm rich enough I'm going to go coach D3 ( many years down the road).

Motion to change thread title...looking for a second?
I got laughed at today because I told someone that money isn't a significant motivator for Campbell. It's funny, after reading, listening and talking to others, how Lincoln has taken the position that the coach they desire is of a higher level than what anyone in the Big 12 can provide...yet feel they should have never left the conference in the first place.
