KF has a 42 million buyout after this year. You think Iowa is going to write that check. Guessing he gives baby ferentz a 2-3 OC contract soon so lock his gravy train in.I think Stoops might listen. He still has to be peeved at doucher Calipari calling Kentucky a basketball school.
But I also think Stoops knows that KF is not long for the running and may hold out for Iowa.
I agree with this 100% which is why I wanted Scott Frost to exceed expectations at Nebraska. My gosh...as much as it pains people on this site......we need Nebraska, Wisky, Ohio St. penn St, Mich to be decent. Those schools don't really effect us and keep coaches in tacked.
Drives me crazy to see ND lose this weekend. because I know the end game.

Absolutely not. The worse Wisconsin Nebraska and Iowa are, the better off we are. Probably Minnesota and missouri as well. Campbell isn’t going to any of those schools, and the worse they are, the better chance we have at being the predominant power school in the region. My gosh...as much as it pains people on this site......we need Nebraska, Wisky, Ohio St. penn St, Mich to be decent. I think Stoops and Campbell both have short lists for jobs they'd leave their current schools for, and Nebraska isn't on it.
I think Stoops is Iowa and Ohio State. I think Campbell is Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

ISU has made some decent progress lately up here in Minny. In several sports.Absolutely not. The worse Wisconsin Nebraska and Iowa are, the better off we are. Probably Minnesota and missouri as well. Campbell isn’t going to any of those schools, and the worse they are, the better chance we have at being the predominant power school in the region.
Exceeding expectations at Nebraska is winning national titles.I agree with this 100% which is why I wanted Scott Frost to exceed expectations at Nebraska.
I just have no idea where “Michigan is on CMC’s short list” comes from. Absolutely no clue.
Money talksWhich will scare other coaches if boosters are able to push the AD that much.

If Freeman flops they won't go after Campbell. Still too much unproven in a non blue blood program. They'll go after a much much bigger name, proven, to sooth the alumni. In my opinion anyway.I’m not sure about the others, but we should all hope freeman gets his **** figured out.
Notre Dame actually seems like one of the blue bloods that give their coaches a longer leash. Now that will change if Freeman sucks for 3 years, but I think their AD will give him plenty of time to turn it around and as long as he starts improving I don’t see him getting the boot. While their fans might not, their department seems to know the reality of college football. You have down years. Brian Kelly was kept after only getting 4 wins after a 10 win season. At many blue bloods that would get you fired.
All good points except the first one. Exceeding expectations at Nebraska would be winning the Super Bowl.Exceeding expectations at Nebraska is winning national titles.
It's always the strawman case at Nebraska. They think they are reasonable because they say they don't expect to be a dynasty, just compete occasionally for the playoff and national titles. Not that those things can't happen, but all the programmatic things that assisted them in being a dynasty 25 years ago are gone. Those advantages don't exist anymore.
It's sort of like Iowa fans when they get disgruntled with Kirk. They think they are a top 15 "program" because that's what their wins are or whatever, and translate that as this is one of the 15 best jobs in the country. No it isn't. Not even close. The nature of college football has been for a LONG time that it's like 90% if you have a good coach that is stable. The other 10% - recruiting base, facilities, tradition, etc. don't favor Iowa all that much. Basically they are a good program now because they have a flukish 4 decade run with two really good coaches willing to stick around. There is little to nothing "programmatic" that is special at Iowa or Nebraska for that matter.
Iowa may learn what Nebraska is finding out. Nebraska didn't make Pelini win, he made Nebraska win. Fry and Ferentz didn't have success 'cuz Hoks. Iowa had success because of Fry and Ferentz.
Basically these Big 10 programs have big checkbooks to hire and be impatient with coaches. That's great, but now that makes them one of 32 teams or so that can do that. You still have to pick the right guy that works with your program, is in the right station of their career, etc.
But the hysterical fan base and records!Mike Stoops is from Youngstown, OH, not far from Lexington. That area is a great fit for him. I haven’t looked at his roster but he must recruit Ohio and Pennsylvania hard. So why would he go 12 hours west to Lincoln which has a very small local recruiting base?
I have never understood this view. Competing for conference titles at Iowa State is a better accomplishment than about anything you could do at a blue blood. If Freeman flops they won't go after Campbell. Still too much unproven in a non blue blood program. They'll go after a much much bigger name, proven, to sooth the alumni. In my opinion anyway.
I would say the disagreement I have with the final 1/3 is that there is a good P5 head coach that they could land, and that's Leipold. I think they should putting the full court press on him. I really liked his name getting floated back when Campbell was hired. Not that I thought ISU should've hired him, but I definitely thought he should be at an FBS job if he wanted it. Dude can coach, but KU is a brutal job. If they give him as long as they gave Frost, they will win. Maybe not enough to satisfy a majority of their fans, but they will get back to bowls. All good points except the first one. Exceeding expectations at Nebraska would be winning the Super Bowl.
I spent a little time lurking on their message boards just to see what they're discussing and it breaks down into three groups:
There's something rotten in the program, and it likely has something to do with the fanbase and boosters. Pelini was able to build a pretty successful program because he really didn't give two ***** about booster or the fanbase and was unwilling to entertain their delusions. That's also what got him fired. So now they're in a catch-22. The lunatics are spoiling the program, but blocking them out will get the coach fired if he's not bringing home nattys.
- 1/3 thinks they should throw $15m at Meyer, Petersen, Stoops (the Bob one), or Saban and make them say no. Constantly talk about the resources Nebraska has, completely oblivious to the fact that 5-6 other schools in their own conference have similar or better resources and funding available to them. This is the "we've been losing for 20 years so we need to win now" crowd.
- 1/3 says 8-9 wins should be the standard, which is reasonable. Then they add in the new hire needs to be a name that will attract recruits nationwide. And has to be a proven winner in the B10 (or P5 at a minimum). While we're at it, they must have Nebraska ties because there's only one way to win at Nebraska and a coach couldn't possibly figure it out unless they played for or coached under Osborne.
- The final 1/3 seems to have a good grasp that they're probably going to get a G5 HC, coordinator or retread because everyone that fits the requirements the other 2/3 of the fanbase want is going to take a hard pass regardless of the money.
