X but honorable mention to TJ Tampa
Exactly my thinking. X is the best player on this team and was the best player on the field today (my opinion, but I'm pretty confident in that). However, I've thought Tampa has had a very high ceiling for a while and think he had the best game of his career to this point. Super excited to see him keep growing as a player, massive upside with him.

Dekkers. 2nd career start, he does at Iowa with arguably less talent around him what Purdy could not do in Ames the year before - outplay Petras and QB the team to victory.

I'm still not up to speed with all the number changes for existing players plus adding new, but had to go watch the goal line play where we forced the Iowa FB to fumble & it was Number 0 who stoned him allowing for the others to come from the side & strip the ball. No clue who 0 was - it's Mason Chambers. Sold out big time & stuffed the FB there. Big, big play

To be fair, the 2022 hawk team is the worst one we’ve seen in years. X caught a lot of tough balls. Not to mentioned saved a 3rd INT with one of his receptions.

Maybe but supposedly the guy defending him half the game is the greatest dback in history and isn’t even the best player on their defense.

Brock over X imo
No wrong answers between those two, but I agree that I'd give the slight edge to Jirehl. Pounding out a hundred yards in that setting was critical. Shout out to the O line as well, they held up extremely well, and that 99 yard drive couldn't happen if they weren't fantastic.

Offense - Hutchinson
Defense - Colby Reeder
- Colby has some real juice, had a tackle for a loss and a big interception. He is better than what I would have guessed.
Part of me sees Reeder fly in on a play and think for split second Mike Rose is still on the team.

Our whole team success is the OL. The push the OL, in particular the right side is getting is what will make or break this season. We have had the skilled position people before, but with no OL to give Dekkers time to throw or to give Brock the creases needed, it would have been another loss to TOE. I give an honorable mention to CTM for putting Dekkers under center at the one and the OL got us 2 yards. Huge. Need to do that more on 4th and 1.
The whole defense played really well, but I almost expect that under CJH.

When was the last time we had someone run for 100 yards vs Iowa? Bodes well for us.

Isn't it pretty much the same Iowa team as last year, without the lucky bounces?
They really missed Charlie Jones yesterday. Can you imagine the negative recruiting comparing his Iowa career vs Purdue? Yikes
