***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I’ll take Purdy over any of our backups right now. Hell, any in the last 5 years.

I get that it's a new staff and all, but the whole "Mannion knows the system" argument kinda flies out the window when he gets game time and absolutely craps himself. At no point did anyone think he was capable of performing. Is that really the best backup the Vikings could find or did they not even try?

Meh, it's a backup quarterback. AKA, not worth getting too worked up over. They're still kicking the tires on Mond, who I'm sure they hoped would be ready to step into the number 2 role, but it's not like the rest of the league has #2 guys that really light the world on fire. Kyle Trask in Tampa, Josh Johnson in Denver, John Wolford in LA? Did those front offices not try either?

I realize that, and given Cousins relative health, it's not a high priority. I guess my frustration isn't necessarily with the Vikings, but the NFL in general, recycling guys who have shown they aren't capable. I wonder how many QBs don't make it off practice squads because players like Trask and Mannion keep getting additional chances.

Name the last Viking backup QB who looked as good as Brock did last night.

Take off the Cyclone glasses for a second. You are making way, way, way too much out of a couple of drives from the 3rd quarterback to play in the first pre-season game. Purdy did great, but he only attempted 6 passes. Slow your roll a bit.

If you're looking for comparable preseason performances, then look no farther than Kyle Sloter, who looked great just two preseasons ago, and is... currently looking for a team, because preseason performances against 3rd string defenses don't mean much.

For regular season games, Mannion started a game last year where he put up almost 200 yards with over 60% completion a TD and no interceptions. Seems pretty comparable.

If I’m not careful, I might start to be cautiously optimistic about this team.

(It would help if it turns out that they were right about Ed Ingram, and everyone else was wrong)

There's a reason the NFL has us on so many prime tv slots. There's reason to believe this team can be a playoff team

I turned the game on just to watch Brock last night, and was hootin’ and hollerin’ when he threw the TD… but you are severely exaggerating how well he played for a couple drives in the 4th quarter of a preseason game against a lot of dudes that won’t play in the NFL

Because of Mond apparently? Can't think of a single reason why your dumbing things like it was the politics forum. Either that or you were looking forward to quality Kirk time in preseason game 1?
