I think they’re saying driver error, not a throttle issue.
That’s what I thought but the announcers really wanted to put it on a mechanical error right away.

There was some confusion for sure, the Red Bull guy in the cool down room thought it was throttle related too based on team radios. That’s what I thought but the announcers really wanted to put it on a mechanical error right away.
I’m not sure we’ll ever hear the full story honestly, the radio was tough to understand as to whether Charles was trying to backup and had an issue there or if he was describing a mechanical failure that caused him to lose it.There was some confusion for sure, the Red Bull guy in the cool down room thought it was throttle related too based on team radios.
I think it is time for them to bring on a guest strategist.... except they only listen to the guest. Even my wife who only hears the race as background noise from the other room was shocked at how bad that call to pit was. It’s absolutely incredible how bad Ferrari can **** up a race strategy. Leclerc wasn’t even in the race and they were calling for Sainz to box when he was side by side with Checo.
They had one car to deal with and nobody did the math on how many seconds per lap Sainz would have to make up for tires to be worth it. He could have rode those out losing pace and still probably held position. He still had the pace to pass Checo with like 13 laps left.
I don’t think they’ll be adding a new team to the grid any time soon. Unless you mean you thought they’d buy a whole team outright? That is interesting news. I figured Porsche would be coming in on their own.
I have no idea honestly. My thinking comes from the Andretti discussions and what I heard was F1 wouldn't add any teams unless they were manufacturers, because they need more engine manufacturers, or at least they want more. That kind of talk could all just be smoke though, knowing that it kind of covers them when they say no to Andretti.I don’t think they’ll be adding a new team to the grid any time soon. I wonder what that means for Alpha Tauri though. Did Porsche just buy 50% of RBR or 50% of both teams? Maybe that'll be Andretti's way in.I have no idea honestly. Colton Herta.... Yeah I don't know but that would be fun.Who fills that other Aston Martin seat?
Good Question. I'm not sure how the Alpha Tauri thing works, my guess is that Porsche would have to have part of them as well. RB and AT aren't officially the same team, but they are both owned by Red Bull on the books.I wonder what that means for Alpha Tauri though. Did Porsche just buy 50% of RBR or 50% of both teams? I've heard Audi is looking at McLaren as well so who knows what their in will be there. Audi has done this in the last too and nothing ever comes of it. I could see Stroll looking for an out, he can't be thrilled that he's dumping millions into a team to watch his kid finish 17th every week. Maybe they come up with some sort of joint venture there, Stroll and Herta. Stroll brings the money, Andretti brings the racing knowhow and a guy who can actually drive a racecar.Good Question. Honestly, if Andretti buys an existing team, I think that might end up being Aston Martin. There have been a few rumors that Stroll is looking to get out. Although I've also heard that AM is a team that Audi is looking at buying. I know most of the F1 Grid doesn't want to add more teams, but there is room for 24 cars and personally, I'd always love to see more cars on the track.
F1 teams are much like conference re-alignment, if you don't add value, we don't want you. And from what I have heard, that has been the real sticking point for Andretti. Existing teams don't want to split the payout up even more. I have a really hard time believing that the Andretti name doesn't add a lot of value to the grid though. That name has been synonymous with racing for over 60 years. As much as they are pushing the American market now, it seems odd that getting a team with that name and American drivers wouldn't boost the popularity here even more.
If McLaren ends up for sale, they should just trade with Andretti. Seems McLaren is either going to have to add cars for the 2023 Indycar season or they will have drivers sitting on the sideline. They have O'ward and Rosenqvist now, Rossi is coming in next year and are trying to get Alex Palou. Seems a lot of their focus is in Indycar now. Of course, it's a lot cheaper and also possible to add an Indycar to your team than it is in F1 as each team is only allowed two cars.I've heard Audi is looking at McLaren as well so who knows what their in will be there.
