Texas Football Program Culture

I've enjoyed seeing them walk off the field with their heads down after getting beat by the Cyclones.

Charlie Strong tried to fix the culture. He failed, but he tried. I don't think any other coaches really tried all that hard - they were keenly aware how results mattered on the field. Hard to change the culture when doing what it takes to change it is likely to involve leadership turnover.

The Texas boosters ran Charlie out before he even had a chance. He's the only coach post Brown that came in, held his players accountable, and cleaned house and his reward was getting canned. The sad thing is that I think he was actually close to helping that program turn the corner. LMAO Herman set that program back at least 5 years and I'm here for it.

Nothing won't change until the Donors change. Even if you clean house in the AD, the donors will still control the program.

The only way it gets fixed is if they bring someone in who could be BIGGER than all that arrayed against him; bigger than the boosters and their money especially. Think Saban or Belichek, or someone of that stature and force of will. And I just don't think they will get anyone like that.

That said, a different kind of "right coach" could come in and work with the flow of bad culture and win more games just with talent. Maybe win 9-10 a year just on talent. But still not going to compete for championships that way. That could be Sark, remains to be seen.

Maybe in the old Big 12 but not the current, there are too many good teams to just skate by. The SEC isn't going to offer any breathing room either. The days of Texas just "out talenting" teams are over, this isn't the B1G West.

Last year when asked about players buying into the program, he replies ask the players. Oops.

Looks like ol Bijan is slinging his own mustard these days. Might have to buy a bottle
