I like what they've done here. I've always thought GaTech's unis had a bit too much of the old, darker gold, and no new brighter gold 'snap'. It appears that they have added a brighter new gold, while retaining the old gold also.
I'd like ISU to do a "similar" thing. Go back and add our "old gold", not the Stapleton or earlier gold, but add the "sunflower" gold we had in the '70's and early '80's. How I propose we do that would be quite different from GaTech though.
We could use the two shades of gold by adding an old gold pant (using the old sunflower gold), while keeping the current brighter gold for trim, numbers (if using gold numbers on cardinal jersey), etc. We would keep our current brighter gold on all signage, logos, other sports unis. Nothing has to change there. [We don't need a gold helmet or jersey at this time.]
Our AD could even write an addendum to our uniform color policy, indicating that all school sports uniforms must have "atleast some of the current brighter gold in them", and that the old gold or sunflower gold, would be optional. This, so that we don't totally change back to the old gold, which I think would be a mistake. [Just don't use our brighter, current yellow-gold for any future football pant, jersey, or helmet.]
I know our current AD would not go for a complete color change anyway, to the old sunflower gold.
