My son who is extremely stingy with his money needs a computer desk for his gaming computer and work from home multiple monitors. Everything I look at looks too complicated since he will probably move again in a year. Like maybe get two smaller ones or something. Those L shaped ones are nice but I can just see them being complicated to move.

Just grabbed another eero extender. Think it was $63.00, normally $79.00. Something I needed so that’s a decent savings.

What exactly is an Eero? Just a wifi extender?

I have an old farmhouse with plaster walls with a router that is downstairs. It can be tricky at times to get a good connection to go upstairs on wifi. Streaming can be a bit pixelated at times.

Our service provider is a local company which I am happy with. Does an eero device just hookup to the existing router/modem and I could have a couple of extenders to help with signal?

It is exactly this. You need one eero “router”, then you add the extenders where needed.

Eero is a mesh network wifi router. Metronet and Mediacom use them as their base routers now, and you can add on more pieces as you need. eero has "Extenders" or "Beacons" or for extra power you can just add another eero unit(s) itself. They sell them in 2 or 3 packs.

Adding the mesh network router to my existing modem create a stronger connection?

Where I am, in the country, I can only get 50/50. I know there is usually drop off and you don't necessarily get what you pay for.

Would this help that?

It’s not going to make your signal to the house stronger.

Generally the mesh network is meant to replace an existing router but eero support says you can use it with an existing router if you want.

As @Gunnerclone said, it won't give you a faster signal to your home. It will certainly improve coverage within your home and perhaps lessen the drop you see in speed over wifi as compared to a wired connection. So it might feel like faster internet even though your speed technically hasn't changed. It's hard to know for sure without knowing anything about your current setup.

There's a good subreddit for eero where you can ask questions or do research if you want.

50 isn't all that slow, depending on what you're using it for and how many devices are going at once.

If you want utility and movability, screw the desks. Just get a couple folding tables and some small end table or chest on the side to put junk in.

I've also been looking at desks on Amazon and am considering a convertible one that switches between an L layout and a straight, 2-station layout
