Seems noteworthy that leftover leagues on both coasts don't want to work with us though, when we're supposedly in the strongest position, right here in the middle of the country with a media deal expiring in a couple years.

Or we are more unified and aren’t interested in alliances which reek of desperation.

Not exactly sure.
Sure, we’re those things if you cherry pick our best/most anticipated season ever. But if you look at us historically, we’re not in the top 40 for TV ratings. That’s what other people see….one step away (losing CMC) from going back to relative obscurity.
You can only really go back maybe 10 years as people have fickle memories outside of the top teams.

So ESPN is considering a a deal after Fox kicked it's A$$ last week with USC and UCLA.

Either that or George Kliavkoff is throwing mud at the wall and hoping it sticks.. Either way this seems like putting a dead person on life support

So wait a minute...we are going to fly wake forest to play Arizona state....and then have Clemson play Oregon to see who gets eliminated from the playoffs so yet another SEC team can get in? This is the stupidest thing ever. Why the he'll would Clemson want to play a game in Vegas in mid December? That's insane, this is total bs.

I doubt that is how they would execute it, but yes, there has not been a "loose" alliance that has done ****, for anyone.

Mu opinion is the main value in this for the ACC the continued messaging that ESPN needs to do something. All this talk about schools looking to leave, BIG interest etc. They need/want ESPN to at least have some level of doubt that ESPN is in complete control of those schools.

And let's for a minute assume ND stays, they have to fly across the country and play the pac 10 champion...idiotic

Assuming the Big 12 is out on ESPN for the OU and UT debacle. Does ESPN have inventory west of Norman on Saturdays?

They may need to make a run at keeping the PAC 12/10 alive. Until Fox kills the conference that is and takes Oregon

I've never done a Michigan St gameday, but I've heard it's nothing short of awful, and the university does all it can to discourage it with their gameday policies.
It’s pretty awful. They tried to make the entire event family friendly and gutted the experience. Tailgating was dramatically changed and the stadium is in the middle of campus so it’s about a 15-20min walk from where most people park and traffic is horrific. Add in that you can’t drink unless you are in a box and it’s a really rough go. I’ve been a few times if there is a box available but otherwise I’ll watch at home on the big screen.

OUT should not mean we're out on ESPN, it should be we have reason to work together. OUT for free in exchange for no Pac12 and ACC has always been my asking price

Attendance numbers truly don’t matter. USC/UCLA had no attendance last season and their ratings are the exact same as ISU. OSU has had a lot of attendance issues and just a few years ago Michigan was giving away tickets if you bought a Pepsi. Attendance at most schools aligns with if the team is doing well, outside of that for many the schools have made the game experience awful.
They don’t matter directly. But in a future where you may need people to actively subscribe to get content rather than just throw on ABC all day, it can give an idea of that team’s value. It’s really difficult to predict that value. Attendance is a reasonably useful factor in trying to predict it.

Attendance again means nothing. All sports attendance is going down due to cost and the fact that the in home experience is incredible now. Ratings are all that matter you can’t extrapolate anything from attendance but with ratings you can.

There’s a reason why the ACC and PAC are rumored to partner. They’re in the weaker position compared to the Big 12. To me it signals the Big 12 is attempting to make some moves behind the scenes.
They are trying to work together to weaken the Big 12 to 5th Power 5. They already started this too with "The Alliance". This partnership is likely driven by ESPN. All of them, with the SEC, maybe is trying to push the Big 12 out of the CFP Power conference payouts. But if the Big 12 adds some Pac 12 teams, that kills their plan.

The Big 12 is in a weird position having a roster full of mid-tier Power Five programs and zero elite programs that "move the needle" or whatever Stewart Mandel would say. This Pac-12/ACC "partnership" would make it possible for Oregon to play Clemson in their title game or whatever they call it. That's a premier game that ESPN would pay a lot of money for. The Big 12 couldn't put up a champion as valuable.

I still think the Big 12 is a workhorse conference with passionate fanbases that will put up solid if unspectacular viewership numbers, but this is a Hail Mary by two dying leagues hoping that ESPN will pay them more for it.
I despise Stewart Mandel. Total hack.

Seems like years ago the alumni Association had Amtrak trips to Denver and arranged hotels, transport, tickets and tailgating for the CU game. I never got to go because they left before I had a chance but maybe they'll start this again.

If they priced that half way reasonable that would be a great trip.

It certainly doesn’t help that for some reason 95% of the national media hates the Big 12. What a joke.
Most days I wonder why I don’t have you on ignore. But today, I do not completely disagree with this.

Respectfully disagree. The fact that a school only puts 20,000 fans in their 65,000 seat stadium absolutely has an impact on their brand. If the brand was that great then people (especially in high population areas) would want to attend.

I’ll take that as a compliment, and do my best to become the poster you’d like me to be. How’s that sound?

Now, back on topic…. this hatred of the Big 12 seemed to all start when they went with the all spread attacks and game scores were like 65-50. For whatever reason, they all hated that.
