Not exactly sure.
It will be easier to just start unequal revenue sharing, than to kick members out.

Still allows the top dogs to have teams to beat up on.

Makes it so those that earn less and are "free loading" leave on their own.

Unlikely anyone gets kicked out, its more likely the this happens or the major players leave to create another league with others.
The ACC could tell us about the GOR validity. Remember, the SEC doesn’t have one, so if the ACC has theirs fall, the top 8 teams from the Big ten, 8 from SEC and 4-8 from ACC, PAC, big 12 or the other two conferences could break away.

4 pods of 4. Looking back 1 year ago. 100/100 would say this is a home run.

As someone that doesn’t give a **** about the money since I’m not getting any of it, this is a good looking conference. I’m ready for something new and I’m definitely going to away games in Tempe & Boulder every chance I get.

I don’t disagree with this sentiment but apples deal with the mls has lower payouts then the current Big12 deal and is less then a third of the payout the big ten is going to get. Big ten is expected to be over a billion a year for 16 teams while the MLS is getting 250mil per year for 28 teams

That was their Tier 1 rights. We are talking about increases to tier 2 and 3 rights. Fox/ESPN/ViacomCBS/NBC are still the tier 1 networks. But the tiers are going to be a larger percentage versus the last contract.

We aren't in the ballpark of the SEC and B1G. We need to set up to be the CLEAR #3.

Totally agree, Nebraska has been awful for awhile but still was 12th in ratings last year. That was news to me during the OUT talks becuase I had no idea they drew that kind of audience
I agree that Nebby gets good ratings. But some of the viewership last year was due to games with Oklahoma, OSU, Mich, etc. How much of their ratings last year were due to those high ratings teams and their viewers is my question.

It is similar to no one allowing us in the Big 12 to count UT and OU games in numbers, if you take out the highest rated teams in the conference.. I am sure their numbers would significantly go down.

Yeah, I think a lot of posters like talking about basketball...and others will jump in that basketball isn't driving it. I think most here are knowledgable enough to know that football drives it all but still like talking about the implications.

I do think the basketball road trip to UCF is by far the weirdest thing of any of this new Big 12. The rest of it all fits like a glove (especially 5 mountain schools) compared to our worst case scenarios. Playing @UCF in football every fourth year as a conference game is pretty cool and easily worth the risk for their upside.

The Phi Slamma Jamma ESPN documentary is up on Disney+, maybe one of my favorites.
I would say houston changed college basketball more than Magic and Bird.

You are right...for now. But what happens if the streaming giants try to get into the best BBall league in the country? They could make a splash and that could be huge. But the Tier 1 for now and for what we know is definitely the driving force
No. Bball does not equal FB on any platform.

Do people really expect anyone to say otherwise until they have a firm offer in hand?
Was no one capable of issuing a denial 2 days ago? There were 2 sources that claimed a meeting would take place today. Now we are being told that was falsely reported. I am thinking ESPN stepped in today to save the PAC much like Fox/ESPN did more than a decade ago to save the B12.

Agreed. Survive and Advance. Possible Big 12 football championship in Vegas or Glendale sounds like a fun trip.

It wasnt Dodd that reported that, he may have repeated it. But that report came out of Arizona.

I was in a hurry and trying to characterize it properly, but I'd have phrased it differently in hindsight. I'll take another stab...

Dodd is reporting the Big 12's side of things, that it wants to add Pac schools. He doesn't cite anyone else's reporting about any meetings taking place, nor does he cite any discussions of any kind between the leagues or schools.

Canzano reporting the Pac's side of things, that the remaining 10 are sticking together and talk of those four schools moving to the Big 12 is premature. Of course, they're all going to say they're staying together - especially in light of wanting to jump into this media rights negotiation window - right up until they decide they aren't.

No one said it did or would. But to think it's insignificant is asinine.

The biggest revenue producer among college sports is no surprise: It’s football. College football brings in an average of $31.9 million per school per year, financial website Zacks.com reported. That’s an eye-popping number, but it’s even more impressive when you see that number is more than the next 35 college sports combined.

A large portion of that revenue comes from TV deals. ESPN’s deal to broadcast the College Football Playoff is worth roughly $470 million annually, and the Power 5 conference TV contracts each bring in at least $200 million a year, according to On3.com.

The top-revenue producing schools for football won’t surprise you, either. Texas tops the list at $144 million, followed by national champion Georgia ($134 million), Michigan ($126 million), Ohio State ($116 million) and Alabama ($110 million).

Basketball

The No. 2 revenue-producing sport for college is basketball, which brings $8.1 million per school. The bulk of revenue for basketball comes from CBS Sports’ deal to broadcast the NCAA Tournament, which is worth $1.1 billion per year.

Louisville brought in $42 million to lead all schools in basketball revenue, followed by Duke ($37 million), Kentucky ($30 million), North Carolina ($27 million), and Indiana ($26 million).

If you knock out 250 schools the per school revenue is impressive, but the Tournament can't pull in $1.1 billion if you take out the Davidson's, Butler's, VCU, etc.
