1) The Alliance was a lie
2) They're all nuts. Why send teams back and forth across the country to play random schools with no rivalries?
3) I don't care what they do, I'm an Iowa State fan in whatever conference they play in. I could care less about Michigan vs USC, let alone UCLA vs Rutgers.

Why take wazzu, when you take UDub? Why take the beavers if you take the ducks? Why take a bear, when you take a tree? Its the same reasoning used on ISU to the BIG. why would you take six when three gets you the market?

B1G twitter is essentially saying they took two to ratchet up pressure on Notre Dame. It's a pause while they let Notre Dame think about being left out of the two super-conferences.

Pause but Washington/Oregon happens either way. If ND is in maybe changes their final 1-3 pieces.

Agree. And I would take those two as well.
I think they are MWC schools.

In 2019/20 Oregon State & Washington State's AD revenue was $20M lower than the 10th team in the Pac12.

If you added those 2 schools to the Big12 as part of a Big12/Pac12 merger, they would be the 2 lowest schools from an AD revenue standpoint. Lower than UCF, Cincy or Houston.

Look at WSU's attendance. Around 33k in FB and 2.3k in MBB. We'd be better off with BSU & SDSU.

Was the 2022 championship a matchup between the expanded B10 and expanded SEC? If not, I don't see what the point of you wasting your time on this was.
I think numbers will be lower if the number of conferences/teams represented in the overall pool are lower. Number of casual fans will drop and number of avid fans will drop.

La schools as package deal is worth it for brand and media capital of world.

The two bay schools really hammer this question and they really aren’t that different. Neither has rabid fans. Stanford has slightly better overall AD.

WSU and Oregon St are in worse nightmare than we are. They’ve always had to travel a ton but now they might have to travel in non premier league.

I think BB got his butt saved by JP, hocutt and the like. We had ADs that had weathered this before and they did the heavy lifting. I think the PAC 12 was caught flat footed.

Yep, which is more of why the PAC is not in the best position to add teams into the fold. So if it comes down to Yormark vs. Kliavkoff…which “outsider” has the vision to lead the Lost Boys?

Insterestingly, I was in Corvallis when they demolished one side of their football stadium for an upgrade. Lots of financial promises made by many schools counting on stability. Sucks.

Notre Dame will never be left out. The Big10 & SEC will take them whenever they come calling. Even if it means an odd # schools.

I am sure ND is talking with NBC/Universal or other TV partners to test the waters as an independent go forward.

Yeah, the PAC wanted to eat the big 12 so that was their investigations so they are starting from scratch

I know the popular opinion is that Big XII will poach the PAC 12 but just do a comparison of the schools in each conference. There is no good way to compare schools one to one, but I took a super simple approach.
KU - Washington
Oklahoma State - Oregon
Baylor - Stanford
Iowa State - Cal
Texas Tech - Arizona
TCU - ASU
Kansas State - CU
West Virginia - Utah

UCF - Oregon State
Houston - Washington State
BYU
Cincy

Which school on the left would you take vs the one on the right if you were another conference. I just don't feel great that the PAC 12 won't hurt the Big XII if Oregon and Washington decide to stay. But my initial thought is that conference has struggled with fan support and it's time zones keep the rest of the country uninterested, so that gives us an edge.

But if the ACC offered WV and UCF or Cincy would they stay here?

All this said we are a strong top to bottom, although historically we have no flagships left. maybe that's the strength of our conference. No more OU/T or USC/UCLA to blow it up.

This nonstop realignment and chasing of money while killing rivalries reminds me of the opening monologue in Casino where Pesci says 'in the end, we ****** it all up'

I’m coming around to the idea that - if the B1G is done with the Pac-12 - it’s more likely that we end up in a Pac-16 than it is that we poach the Pac-10.

I think the Pac-10 rallies and poaches ISU, KU, TCU, Texas Tech, OSU, and Houston. It leaves the more religious, eastern time zone, and second-fiddle in small state (sorry KSU) schools behind.

BYU, Baylor, K-State, WVU, Cincinnati, and UCF are left to pick up the pieces in a diminished league.

If the B1G takes more Pac-10 schools then the opposite will happen and the Big 12 will eat whatever it wants of the remaining Pac schools.
