And your new MBB rival is ...

How about we were both original members of the Big 8? Not that hard.

It should switch to OSU when the traitors are gone.
Sorry, there are plenty of other originals. Geography will be far more important than a very loose (historical) tie between Ames and Stillwater. I could see some religious (God's Fury) rivalry between Baylor and BYU though.

Could be but who would miss it?

I wouldn't necessarily miss it, but I am not sure if the other major conferences have an appetite to add another one. I say this not knowing what kind of challenges other conferences have other than the Big 10/ACC challenge.

Who are the plenty of other originals, that are not already paired up in the article of your OP?

TxT is the most natural oSu rival. They hate one another. They make fun of copycat oSu in Lubbock. GunsUp, Pistol Pete, and all that. They recruit the same turf. Very logical.

May make sense but illogical as ham and turnips. ISU will get BYU, unless the Cougars are matched with Baylor in an unholy alliance.

LOL Surly you're shooting blind in this, but it is good for page clicks.

This is how it will shake out.

TxT/oSu
K-State-Ku
Baylor/TCU
BYU/ISU
WVU/Cincinnati
UH/UCF

I think you are probably right. Although a member of the original Big 8, oSu has always felt like a more natural fit with the Texas schools since the Big 12 became a thing. I mean, they were in the Big 12 South after all.

Iowa State lost their natural rivals when Nebby and Mizzou split. I'd say KU or K-State are pretty natural rivals still, but they already have each other obviously. Bring on the Cougars!

I don't see any natural connection between ISU and oSu. Perhaps you can explain one?
At least we have a connection going back to the Big 8 with Okie St.
There is zero past connection to BYU and I hope we don't get stuck playing them twice/year.
