Miller and Condon

Had the chance to give The Fanatics a listen a couple days this week. Honest question, is it always just talking about whiskey, beer, and interviewing advertisers and sponsors?

Seems like you got the two main food groups there.

It's the offseason. They had AJ Green on earlier. What do you expect to be discussed?

I’ve caught most of the first two hours, including the AJG interview. I think other than that, it’s been the other stuff I mentioned. So like 75%-25% being generous. It’s baseball season, the NBA finals start tonight, the NHL conference finals have started, the NBA draft is upcoming, the Saban- Jimbo thing heated up again, there’s a lot of things I’d rather listen to than sponsors/advertisers droning on for two hours.

I had 590 from Omaha on this afternoon, they were yapping about the Huskers opening football game so I quickly turned it.

If you want the national sports scene, probably don’t listen to KXNO unless it’s Dan Patrick or Cowherd. The locals have high listenership so they are doing something right.

Somewhat related, I love how talk radio disguises sponsors....like the host will be talking about a product and a service "speaking of heavy rains, last week I had XYZ gutter company over and they were great....I only use the best for my house as my family deserves the best..." "Yeah, Jeff and the guys there are great...we should have them on as I don't think people understand the issues bad gutters can do to your house....and maybe he could also tell us who he has money on for the big game tonight as I know he follows Circa sports when he's putting on the gutters"

I'm in the minority as Miller and Condon is the only local show I listen too on KXNO and I'm not either ISU or Iowa. I guess it's more out of loyalty to Ken than anything else as when I moved to Des Moines 25+ years ago & sports radio was in it's infancy. It's much easier today to follow to whatever team you're a fan of than it was in 1997.
