Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

I don't disagree that TH has room to grow as a player and, specifically, as a PG. But there is no doubt he would be much more efficient with better shooters, better ball-handlers, better players around him. For one thing, he would be more effective finishing at the rim if there were reliable 3-point shooters on the perimeter that opposing defenses had to respect.
Who cares? If he plays against ISU I hope he has horrible games doing so. If he goes to Kan$a$$, he is just a Jayhawk hoser. Do we sit around discussing the career development of Jayhawk hosers?

Like I said, it would help to not be next to Gabe. It would help everyone not to be next to Gabe on offense.

Kunc, Grill, IB all sufficient shooters, and McCormack at KU isn't shooting 3s better than Conditt. Go look at Conditt with Haliburton- he was much better with an elite pg. That is not Hunter right now. A vast majority of his improvement will come from getting better. There is a reason he's getting paid to go to KU, and not even testing the waters.

He needs to improve his shot, which allowed guys to go under screens, and and feel/vison. A better midrange would help too, and I don't think his floater is yet what you see on smaller guards.

I saw some ******* Kan$a$$ fan on Twitter yucking it up about how Iowa State has become their farm team. **** him and **** every single greasy one one of their hoser fans. They have engaged in more fraud, deceit, and cheating than any school not named UNC. I am done with men's basketball. Just another G league. My entire focus for basketball will be the women's team (at least if and until improper implementation of NIL ruins that sport as well). Peace out.
Think I have to agree. College basketball will never be the same.

I have lived around their fans for 30 years and they could care less how they win. They have gotten caught and in other cases haven’t gotten caught. Either way nothing much ever happens. The NCAA is a joke.

Tell me how much you remember from the countless more expensive marketing campaigns you've been exposed to in the last day? How may products did you buy because that company spent well over 800k to reach you?

You can't sell a product without that product existing to a consumer. Basic stuff here.

Basic if you fell asleep 1 minute into your Marketing 101 lecture on Marketing Escalator.

It's called a marketing campaign or marketing plan because doing 1 thing isn't enough. Do one thing and doing the wrong thing and it's a complete waste of money. Just as well could have gone down to the local bar and bought everyone drinks.

I'll be curious why you feel giving $800k to a 20 year old kid fits into the greater marketing campaign? You're the marketing wiz- explain it.

My marketing experience tells me, paying Nigel Pack has nothing to do with marketing NerdWallet's product. But paying Pack to play hoops for Miami. I am eagerly awaiting to see Pack as their spokesperson. Like I said, they should have gone with Mike Tyson. He knows something about medical procedures.

You can't get to any of that without first introducing the product. This isn't even 101. Please, take the pre-requisite.

Do you think many more people are aware of LifeWallet now than before? Of course. It was a great use of 800k. Every marketing step after is now more effective because of that.

Obviously Pack has nothing to do with LifeWallet. This is NOT a celebrity endorsement. Next you're going to tell me Tiger Woods doesn't really drive a Buick. It is using NIL's novelty as marketing in itself. It is making headlines. Shock value. 15 minutes of fame. Certainly you get that, right?

trust me, I totally believe you're one of those types that buys something when they're favorite celebrity gets paid well to endorse it. You're a true unicorn to marketers. So I understand why you struggle to see value in Packs' deal. But it isn't about Pack at all, only about NIL being headline worthy right now.

This was hard to read…

Portal NIL news. St Louis Billikens PG , Yuri Collins (nation leader in assists), enetered the portal, and rumors were that he might get a lot of $$ from a P5 school. he entered the portal, and everyone assumed he was leaving SLU. He just decided to remove his name from the portal and is returning.
not getting my hopes up, but…….
AJ Green more likely to return to UNI than Hunter here..... And thats not likely lol

It’s the foremost goal of marketing.

And one that can cost far more than 800k to have such a headline.

People like you are why this was a great way to spend on NIL. Your ignorance made it a headline that continues to get talked about
Awareness is one component of marketing. The utmost goal is the achievement of a strategic goal. I would guess in this arena, their goal is to gain subscriptions or clients. If the awareness that nerdwallet exists leads to the conversion of an ROI based number of clients, then it is a success. I have not done the research necessary to see who their target audience is and what kind of funnel they have set up to convert those that they make "aware". But, i'm just going to throw out there is a lot more to a marketing strategy than "Let's get noticed by a bunch or random people." That is NOT the foremost goal of marketing. In business, typically, it is to provide or direct qualified leads to a system (often times sales people, other times e-commerce or automated marketing) that will close the sale eventually leading to a profitabke transaction, which is, in a businesses case, the foremost goal of marketing.

If this was a ploy to get a BIG TIME basketball nut's atrention for large infusion of cash, that might be another rather narrowly focussed reason to do this. I look at that kind of transaction as a rather narrow field of marketing thst is 100% interested in fundraising. I doubt that was the case here.

With all thst said, let's just be careful to not confuse hype or buzz or "trying to go viral" with marketing as a whole. If the buzz doesn't cause the desired conversion, it is a losing proposition, not a win in and of itself.

Hadn't heard about that. (I knew Collins entered portal, but not the rescind news).

Isolated case, but I assume players here & there will dip a toe intro transfer market even with NIL, then decide to return. Similar to testing NBA waters.

Of course they wouldn't be paying him to sit on the bench. It really wouldn't be much different then when Haluska (?) transferred to Iowa.
The whole Haluska thing was different. He was from in-state. I don’t think it should have surprised anyone him going to iowa. I said it before on here, if he commits to KU then something likely happened here with him that we have no clue about and he wants to stick it to us. He can get big time NIL money elsewhere. I don’t think as a recruit I would have the moral compass to transfer to a team within the same conference. Especially after being a star freshman.

I would guess the chances of Hunter going to UNC are pretty slim now.

You have zero chance to convert someone that doesn't know your product exists, do you agree? On a per consumer reached basis, do you think the 800k is more or less than alternative forms of marketing? How many ways could they have their names in a thread over the weekend being argued about? The more isucy86 types there are, the more effective it is.

The basis of your argument isn't whether 800k was cost effective in getting the level of product exposure, it is whether more needs to be spent. That has not been suggested either way. But what a success for it to now have an audience deciding whether that product is for them, with potentially more marketing needed, all from just 800k.

Hype or buzz is an effective component of marketing. There is no denying that.

.

How so? Go ask 100 random people who Nijel Pack is or better yet show them a picture and ask who it is. Essentially nobody knows or gives a **** who Pack is. Nothing against him, he’s a really good player. It’s just that people don’t really follow CBB enough.

Not to mention all the pissed off K-State fans that will hate Nerd Wallet for the rest of their lives.

Removed his name due to second thoughts? ....or SLU came up w/some NIL on their own. Like another poster said, I don't know how you prevent dissention on a team if that occurs.

When are you and Jonas going to just give up and realize it’s all about the pay day? Just look at Hunter’s story. The kid can use a
Big pay day. And if it’s all about the pay day then you go to the highest offer. Doesn’t matter if it’s $2,000 more. You don’t make business decisions on your fee-fees. You’ll learn one day.
