But the coach that recruited and signed Hunter is gone, we fired him, was that good for Hunter?
I guess I'm intrigued by the idea that a blueblood school equates big donors. Does KU really have that much bigger of donor base than us? Even UNC?
I'm honestly asking. I get they are historically great basketball schools. But what about their universities lends to them having more big money behind them?
Student-athletes can receive merit based aid (academic scholarships) and need based aid (Pell Grant) without this aid counting toward NCAA scholarship limitations.I don't believe that a player who was recruited to play sports can be granted academic scholarships or that would be a way to go over the scholarship limits.
TJ played the style he had to with the players he had. Who knows what style he’d play with different players. Even 650k TH isn’t a prolific scorerWhat schools would you say play a comparable style to ours? Have they had any guys make it to the NBA?
Certainly the Paul Shirley National Merit scholarship can be awarded fairly.Student-athletes can receive merit based aid (academic scholarships) and need based aid (Pell Grant) without this aid counting toward NCAA scholarship limitations.

Honestly dumb luck in sparty's case, at least when it comes to athletic donations. We have 2 med schools, a law school, and a vet school but while our business school is good its no where close to the Michigan or Northwesterns of the world which is where the real money is at. The fact that one of our billionaires is barely 40 and played for izzo is where a lot of the money is coming from. Our alumni base is larger and has always donated well so it helps but the billionaires being big sports fans really helps.I guess I'm intrigued by the idea that a blueblood school equates to big donors. This is 100% not true, at least the first part about coaches involvement, that is what an NIL dept is for.Another potentially serious problem will soon rear its ugly head. NIL requires, by its nature, coaching involvement in arranging players and payers. Sooner rather than later, allegations will be made about Coach X receiving payment/donation from the payers or, god forbid, the players as “compensation” (read - kick back) or “reward” for making the “proper” pairing between payer and player.
Very soon gambling interests will become involved in NIL. Players will be bought and sold to the highest bidders. Huge bets will be made on college bball games. When this kind of money gets involved, cheating closely follows.
NIL, for all its good intentions, may very well be the beginning of the end of intercollegiate athletic competition as we’ve known it to be.
That's opens another question, if TH is being paid $650k and not producing to that level of pay what do fans and fellow players think and how do they react?TJ played the style he had to with the players he had. What does this have to do with ISU men's basketball?Honestly dumb luck in sparty's case, at least when it comes to athletic donations. Who is "we" besides you?
Or are you spending someone else's money?
Someone specifically asked the question below so I answeredWhat does this have to do with ISU men's basketball?
Where are you getting it was contended they’re employees because of the scholarship? What a pathetic strawman.Really? Last time I looked if I get a full academic scholarship or music scholarship that doesn't make me a university employee.
If your argument switches to athletes deserve to share in the billions that Athletic Departments bring in. Then what about the students, assistants who work in research disciplines that bring in hundreds of millions to ISU's Vet Med, Engineering or Ag Colleges? Should they hold out for a bigger cut of Grant Money?
Exactly. So most of the players get max pell grants, which means they also receive other grants most likely? So by the time it’s done most are pulling 10-12k in free cash while at college? Makes me feel less sorry for them.
It just doesn't get renewed after the first year if the provider of the NIL doesn't want to continue it.That's opens another question, if TH is being paid $650k and not producing to that level of pay what do fans and fellow players think and how do they react?
