I guess we have to trust TJ.... but he's got to get some scoring on this team. I know scorers are hard to get in the portal, but that's his job.

If Ward's offensive numbers are worse than Conditt, and Ward is playing against far inferior opponents than Conditt was.... that's not good. We just have to trust TJ knows what he's doing.
A part of it is that George was actually a good finisher around the rim, Ward was better than Jones there. George had a better assist rate by quite a bit. Ward didn't turn it over quite as often but still a pretty high amount for a big, George was a bit better of an offensive rebounder.

Not impossible to get more from Ward though, and from what I've seen Ward could be a real force defensively. He's at the very least a pretty sizeable upgrade over Jones and with Conditt gone the Jones part is what matters.

So the plan is to win games 38-35?

I'm very worried about next year, especially if we lose Hunter. We won't have any scoring. The fact that we won't have King until semester really hurts too. Non conference is incredibly important, we can't afford 3 or 4 losses in he non con because wins are so hard to come by in the Big 12.

This guy is elite defensively. He can guard on the perimeter as well as defend the rim. More flexibility to switch. This is a big pickup.
Agreed, Oklahoma St and Tech had long athletic guys like this last year and both those teams gave Iowa State (and the rest of the Big 12) fits.

I'd welcome a smaller assist rate from our 5 for example.

As mentioned by others, Ward can cover more positions on defense than Conditt, which is big. It is particularly helpful if we land Basile or even BVP. His block rate is what we first saw from Conditt, and an improvement over what we got last two years. I don't think he is Cato or Manny Bates in that regard, but he can really cover ground on help defense and contest.

I don't think we know if he's a worse finisher than Conditt. Conditt barely attempted to finish and he was a kind of poor the previous year. Ward is similar to Conditt career numbers on more attempts, and a lot better than Conditt's junior season.

I think Ward is a slight upgrade over Conditt in what we're trying to do. He's not a dissimilar talent. I was rather high on Conditt as freshman and though some of his sophomore season. He got Prohmed.

I'm pretty optimistic looking at the line up next year. With his length, Ward is an upgrade over Conditt or Enaruna. Reminds me of the Lard/McKay type, with hopefully a better work ethic.

PG: Hunter/Lipsey
SG: Klashuer/Grill/Willaims
SF: Eli King/Watson
PF: Jaz/Jones
C: Tre King/Ward

With two more open scholarships, get a decent scoring guard and another big man, and that's a solid squad.
Tre King is absolutely not a C

Excellent.

However, Georges posts an IG story with an official graphic, yet Hason himself has not posted, nor have any Cyclone accounts? Is Georges interning on the graphic design team of the marketing dept as a side hustle?!

Who do you want breaking the news if you’re a commit? Georges is a great cyclone and I’m sure he works well with the ADM.

No kidding, legitimately takes the team from 2-22 to the sweet 16 and he’s catching flack for his recruiting. Year 2 we were hoping to be a bubble team too.

Agreed. I continue to believe we know about 25% of what is actually taking place as to portal recruiting. Will be curious to look back in 30 days and see what has transpired. We’ll know a lot more by then.

I agree, but probably way less than 25%. According to 247 Sports, Hason Ward was not even in the transfer portal. Was he officially in the portal?

Christ sake man don’t you think he’s working on it?
Feel like it's worth wondering since we haven't been mentioned as deep on any guards since Williams, haven't been pursuing that many guards anyhow, and only one of them looks like a high level shooter(Michael Jones).

Sure, we could know something on AJ Green and that's why, but he's gonna get some NIL stuff and we can't even pay to keep guys who like being here right now.
