Bolton versus Harris

Talked with Rasir and his parents briefly after game tonight while they were taking photos. Said "Go Cyclones" to his dad and he was excited that I was a Cyclone.

Rasir seemed genuinely happy to hear I was a Cyclone. Dad asked to get a picture with me and Rasir but I'm not allowed because I was working. Very nice family.

Rasir is much smaller than he looks on TV. Lean. Harris is freaking TINY, but quick.

Holmgren is as tall and freakishly skinny as he looks. His dad is probably 6' 9" and skinny too.

Matt Van Komen from St. Mary's is HUGE. 7' 4" and 250. He's a large human.

JCL would have done great at ISU this year but neither Harris or Bolton would have made up for their faults and chemistry issues. Many won’t agree, but I think we score more but net fewer wins with them.
Yeah Bolton causing major chemistry issues at Gonzaga.

Prohm sucked! As big a disaster last year was his ultimate suck was not doing more with the team with Monte, Matt, and Burton. Nice guy but I'd still like to kick him in the sack if I ever see him.

He’s in a very well established program where he isn’t the centerpiece. Yea he isn’t causing issues there that we know of, but he would have been a huge issue here. The minute he heard the word defense he was probably gone.

I'm not sure the two small in stature players had much to do with last year's absolutely no effort to rebound team.

I would rather look ahead than back. I like to think Cyclone basketball may be in a better place because we only won two games during the covid year.

I do wonder given the large amount of attrition if the players Rasir was butting horns with ended up leaving as well. Conditt mentioned him as one of the 5 best players he's played with (although I think he replaced him with Weiler-Babb after a second) when Randy asked him to build an all-teammates starting 5 a few weeks ago. Regardless you're right, his game wouldn't mesh at all with what TJ has built this roster into.

They did lose the opportunity to play some of the early easy non-cons. Two is not the shocking number due to that, zero conference wins is a lot more disturbing
As bad as last years team was, in a normal season they would have had at least 7-8 wins. Still awful, but they didn’t get many of those games against the SWAC and MEAC teams.

This. If ever there was a team that needed a normal non-conference schedule to gel, it was that one.

Prohm sucked. But life goes on. Just thankful we have a decent basketball coach now. Instead of a guy who just rolls out the basketballs.

I haven't watched much Gonzaga this year, but to me Bolton looked to be in better shape than when he was here.

Gonzaga has one of the best defenses in the country

Bolton and Harris are good offensive players. However, their defense is suspect. When their guy beat them last year, it generally lead to two points as there was nobody there to pick them up. When they get beat this year, they have seven footers who can pick them up to prevent the opponent from scoring. If other words, their defensive deficiencies are not exposed.
