I was surprised to see the other day on ESPN that ISU had not won two straight conference games since the 2019 Big 12 tournament. Ugh. Sometimes we do not acknowledge actually how bad it was in 2019/20 and 2020/21.

And we have not won three straight conference games since the same 2019 Big 12 tournament that ISU won as a #5 seed. Then we promptly peed our pants against OSU in the first round.

In regards to comparing TJ to some nascar driver "thats picked 10th but finishes 7 in conference" I would certainly hope TJ aspires to more. Once TJ has laid the foundation to the program, there is no reason we shouldn't see top half finishes most years

The recent bubble talk and discussion of "bad" at large teams always seems to include that 2019 tOSU team that we somehow managed to leave an absolute floater against. That 9-9 conference finish and subsequent flame out in the dance after a nice weekend in KC was really a disappointment. That team could've been so much better.

Glad to see TJ and Co get things heading back in the right direction. Here's to finishing strong.

It has also been a half decade since we have had a winning conference record(regular season) or won an NCAA tournament game. The program really regressed after Monte’s class moved on. Luckily TJ seems capable of bringing the program back.

That's a very fair expectation. Perhaps a down year here and there but generally make the tournament.

There will be some that won't expect anything less than 5 loss seasons and regular season Big 12 titles since ISU hasn't done that in over 20 years.

I'm still stunned by the huge movement in the NET rankings after a single game. How can one game have such a dramatic effect on something that is intended to track season status? For instance, is it weighted toward the most recent games? Or was it just the big offensive burst that made the difference?

Large point differential in a win.

1.35 (if memory serves) points per possession is INSANE. It’s such an absurd outlier that it really wrenched efficiency metrics. The team that has struggled to score set a conference record for offense. Enjoy the ride.

If we had a 1.0 rate of points per possession for the previous 20 games, a single game of 1.35 would only raise the average to 1.017.

So, there much be some bonus in the formula for recent games. Surely we wouldn't have the same ranking if the 1.35 game happened in November rather than February.

In reality, we weren't as bad as our NET rankings a week ago. And we aren't as good as the NET ranking today, if it can be so dramatically affected by the most recent game.
