The commentators said they did a good job of officiating. wow, how bad are these guys? They also gave KU a 3 pointer but the KU shooter had a foot on the line in a game that went to overtime. In regulation, they gave KU 4 extra points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easily actually. The call is the trail or center official's call to make. If the mechanics are being done correctly the lead official under the basket is not ball watching and is watching for contact. It's damn near impossible for the lead official to make the call because the glass is in the way.
The center or trail official on the side of the floor the drive starts on technically has the glass covered. The call is easier to make from the official's POV if you can hear the ball off the glass (no way they could last night) but otherwise the bang bang plays are tough calls to make. Now my opinion would be the way to correctly officiate it is to call it so you can review similar to siding with turnovers in the NFL so they're automatically reviewed.
The trail or center where the drive didn't start should be watching away from the ball so they shouldn't really be involved in the call.

Now, let's talk about the stupid part where you can't review it unless it is called. And why something that close and bang bang was not reflexively called by the officials in the first place and then reviewed it necessary.
No way in hell they let us wipe a shot that close too the board on KU.
That’s my main gripe with it. Also the fact that it was a physical game all night with a lot of contact and they chose to call that one in the last minute just irks me.
I love that there's multiple Kansas fans showing up, pretending to be ISU fans and telling everyone how much better they are than everyone else because officiating is either so hard or "was bad both ways!"

Looks to me each coach should have 2 red flags they can throw to dispute a foul like the NFL. Lose the challenge lose a time out. That goal tend was more than obvious and just maybe the bias would be reduced and put some pressure on these refs..... Go Cyclones.
You really had me until "must win". They have a ridiculously tough stretch to start the conference season. Just keep playing. Starting to think things like "this is a must win" two weeks into the season is how teams get tight and really start to screw up.

I think my frustration lies mostly in the fact that you go to the monitor and analyze the Jones "flagrant" like it's a god**** video of Bigfoot or something, then you stop the game to see if there is a chance Grill's right big toe may have been hovering over the 3 point line, but you don't have the gumption to blow your whistle, call the goaltend then go to the monitor. This **** isn't complicated and the refs know the rules. You can review it if you blow the whistle and call it, so blow the whistle and call it. Then if it winds up not being a goaltend, what are you really out?

Interesting. I never saw a call so I assumed it had to be called a 2 since I sure as hell couldn't see a definitive view of it either way. If that view overturned a call of a 3, I would like to see what view was enough to overturn it.
