Being a huge Star Wars fanboy I went into BoB wanting to love it. It was pretty meh for me. Of course I'll keep watching, but it was a rough start I thought. I think I'm going to have a hard time with this whole "honorable rogue" character arc they have him on. I feel like there are a lot of inconsistentlcies with the character overall.

Based on what? It’s not had he had a lot of screen time in the movies to do a deep dive into a character arc. He’s basically a blank slate with a name.

I get what he's saying, tho. We go from a guy who has to get specific instructions from Darth ****ing Vader to tone down his methods and not disintegrate anyone, to a guy who wants to rule through respect, not fear?

That's a big divergence in character that I hope they take the time to explain

Yes this. In the OT he was a mysterious figure, but he was a villain plain and simple. You can try and retcon that, but it doesn't jive with his portray in the OT.

Beyond that, though, I feel like his character in the show has been a little inconsistent. I mean he becomes a mob boss by killing Bib Fortuna in cold blood, and now he wants to lead through respect? He puts himself at risk when trying to escape the sand people camp to try and save another captor? Does any of that jive? They are trying to make him a little too much of a good guy right off the bat. At least make him earn it a little bit through some story telling.

To me, part of the problem here is that The Mandalorian was so ******* good that Boba Fett is going to be compared to it. And I just don’t see how it can measure up and is falling short right off the bat.

That said Star Wars has proven for decades it can put out horrible content and still have millions of people watch it.

Technically, he's like 45-50 yo. Beaten yes, but not old per se. Although, I think they'll use him being a clone and his time in the sarlaac pit to explain why he appears older than he should be since Temura is 61.

No. Is it better than the first?

Yes. I'm actually enjoying this show so far with my kids. We loved the Mandalorian too. We also loved Rogue One and enjoyed Solo. it was fun. Not great, but entertaining. Didn't really like the Last Jedi or Rise of Skywalker. They were meh...

Lots of backstory from his time with the Tuskens. I'm enjoying the show so far. It's not as good as Mandalorian though
Agreed.

As a set piece, the train attack was awesome to watch. The overall story just isn't quite as good so far, though.

Yeah that was fun. I agree. I think the story has potential though with him trying to maintain control as Daimyo

I suppose it was technically lizard-trippin', but isn't a flashback inside of a flashback kind of a writing no-no?

Frankly, I'm more invested in the flashback story right now. The "present day" story hasn't really grabbed me yet. Maybe because there's only be about 10 minutes of it so far.

I'm thinking it would have been more interesting to have a series with Daniel Logan playing Fett and tell the adventures he was up to post-RotS and pre-ESB.

I think the "flashback" story is supposed to be the main story. That's the impression I get so far. The present day stuff seems more like a flash forward.

This episode was way better than the first. I admit I was a little tepid when I finished the first one, but this one seems to have found its footing a bit better.
