Greetings from a Clemson fan....

The ACC, due to a much smaller overall alumni base, will never rival the following of schools in the other power 5. That said the footprint for recruiting has its advantages and unless a school completely abandons even trying they will be players in whatever lies ahead.

Clemson fans have never been "conference fans", I've never pulled for unc or duke in hoops nor fsu in football. SEC fans through talk radio and message boards have made it so folks route for historical rivals. Nuts.
There are rivals I will pull for, and rivals I won't.

I want my team's conference to look good, because that generally helps make my team look better. But there are some times I just can't do it, and some teams I can NEVER cheer for even if it would benefit Iowa State.

Well we will never route for Nebraska or ToE (Them out East aka Iowa), or Texas but I will be pulling some for OSU, KState etc. Their strength in the big picture is better for ISU.

Not naive to the nuances, so if 100% know a certain win will "help"...I'll pull for them - but it is not for "conference bragging rights." That said generally if my team wins....we are good.

Due to our conference instability and realignment implications our fanbase follows TV viewership very closely, as it is a measure of value to other conferences looking to expand or for the future new Big 12. ACC is better than PAC in that regard substantially. That’s with Miami and FSU sucking and Clemson being outside the playoff picture. Basically in terms of TV the Big 12 (even without OU and UT) and the ACC are a pretty solid #3 and 4 behind the SEC and Big 10 and are way ahead of the PAC. On the field the new Big 12 is tops in terms of # teams in the conference and rankings.

What tv revenues suggest the acc is going away? Lol.
Where do you think the ACC will be in tv revenue in two years compared to the BIG and SEC?

Even with its best brands, it was falling behind all but Pac12. Likely because it’s been decaying as a conference outside the Dabo blip. That will only continue to grow. And once the disparity is at the level of $30-$40 million, the performance gap will grow as well. One may think OuT occurring has helped the ACC, as it reduced the conferences ahead of the ACC, but it more likely the Big 12 now has a leg up in “surviving” realignment.

Did you see the conference title game ratings? The American Conference beat the ACC. Brutal. The ACC just has too many programs that don’t have fans.

The only way it survives is if no ACC programs are appealing to the BIG or SEC. Which may be true, but my guess is the SEC makes a play for basketball inventory so they have the leverage over the NCAA

C'mon give it a rest, there is no reason to turn the bowl chat thread into a pissing contest about conference strength/ realignment.

Lol, not sure what you are looking for here - you seem to be implying Clemson fans should be worried that we won't be involved in a (likely coming, we probably agree there) 64 (plus or minus some) team mega conference (at least for football). I'd be happy to take whatever wager you want Clemson will be just fine and have the opportunity to continue to compete for national championships.

Now will it still be 'the ACC'? I'd argue yes (no one has bolted our league, and folks have had the chance, Edit - Maryland did), but as noted before - don't really care. The last commissioner did a poor job on the last TV contract - don't disagree there. That said even with that 'bad' contract - Clemson has still been the 2nd best football program in the country during that timeframe....and we've won a number of other championships as well. Clemson will be fine, lol.

Look forward to the game tomorrow.

I don’t think anyone here is discrediting Clemson’s pedigree. You guys are tough and have been very tough over time. Which is why we are both excited for the game if we can pull it off and worried.

Understand, and didn't take it that way...looking forward to the game.

I've never been so bored watching a Clemson game. You're missing your stud rb, our qb is just not what we thought/hoped/expected him to be.

One more half.
Both teams likely underwhelming it. I can never understand how sometimes our first halves need life support.

Best team in 2nd half.

Well congrats to Clemson. As I feared, our O-line was no match for Clemson's D-line. Hall wasn't there to bail out our OC, and Purdy had a couple of WTF moments we couldn't afford to have.

I was proud of how our D played without Rose. But ultimately Clemson's D won the game.

Honestly don’t agree with this at all. For a blue blood Clemson was very classy. Oregon last year was WAY worse.
A lot of late hits after the whistle, running back were diving at Wills knees non stop. I’m also curious about why there was always a Clemson player laying down like they were hurt after every third down and after Brock started jogging off the field, they would pop up themselves and run off. Odd thing I noticed.

I can’t change your interpretation of what you saw but I think you will be on an island mostly with this take. A couple of later hits but nothing outside of a normal football game.

Cheers!
