I don't, these games have 0 negative effect on their season, and they get to play division 1 bball in some of the best venues and historic teams.

And lets face it, most of these kids aren't going pro, so theyre mainly playing for the opportunity of a degree. An opportunity that their AD probably couldnt afford to offer if it wasn't doing all these buy games.

I seriously feel bad for the players on these "buy game" teams. The go on long road trips to get beat over and over just to fund their athletic department so the coaches and AD's get paid. Hopefully they all get their Florida A&M moment at least once.
I don't feel bad for them, but I was impressed with their coaching staff.

That Chicago St team played much harder and clearly had some things scouted. It looked like the HC was a went to FSU, but no mention of playing for Leonard Hamilton. No P5 coaching experience, but he'd make a good assistant with his ties to AAU.

He was suited - it just wasn’t a good matchup for him. They didn’t really have any size, but I was surprised he didn’t check in with Boothe late.
Probably don't want to risk injury. He is the only backup big.

May have already been me mentioned, but I’m struggling finding it.

Anyone know the last time we had two players with double-doubles?

I actually think the kids on the their team enjoy traveling and playing high caliber schools in big time arenas

Another game and another guy steps up and leads us in scoring. Baylor might need to be the game we get a couple of guys hot on the same night…

edit: thought Tristan had 20 and IB 19. So not right about “leading in scoring”, but you get the idea :)

I think nearly 4 years ago. 1/31/2018 against WVU. Young and Lard had double-doubles.

And if any of them are good enough, its like an audition for later testing out the transfer portal.

Nearly jumped out of chair at that dunk
I will watch this game again just to watch Brockingtons “failed” dunk attempt. WHAT A PLAY! If the net does not spit that back out / that was Sports Center material. What a player. To be his size and rebound like he does is also amazing. When people make up their all time cyclone team, after 12 Games he needs to at least be in the discussion. What a motor!

Look at the Des Moines Register photo gallery of the game. Whoever writes the captions has no idea who our players are, or in one case which team we are. There are 22 photos with multiple errors. My favorite is calling #15 for Chicago State Carter Booth.

If there was an award for non con coach of the year, it would most certainly go to Otz. What an incredible job and also congrats to the kids who really worked hard and bought in. Also think Brockington, as Scott mentioned, hasn't gotten the attention nationally that he deserves. If I was making a midseason all american team he would be on my second team.

I thought the first half they just started getting a little sloppy on offense and just had some weird plays, the Brockington missed dunk and then the alley-oop that both Conditt and Brockington went up for and then just some sloppy turnovers that gave them easy points. But the defense and hustle never stops.
