I don't try very hard on the grout. I've thought about making my kids clean it with a toothbrush when they get in trouble.
That's what we used. And I'm too damn old to be kneeling and scrubbing on that big kitchen floor weekly.

FWIW - for perspective, my grandkids are likely mostly older than your kids. :D

I suppose I should add that these are just jobs for spring. Bigger things still don't seem to exist.
My favorite of these, last I stalked it (daily since a little birdie tipped me off months ago), has significant schedule conflicts with our kiddo's schooling, but pays a ton.
The other broadens out the experience a little, but only has 5 students enrolled, so it might not matter anyway.

Mailed the little kids their annual Lindt chocolate bears and Santa's. Now wondering what to do with the rest of my day and year. Should probably go make with a bikeski ride at LifeTime but that's pretty boring.

Have some helium left in some mostly deflated birthday balloons. Might be enough for a video of Uncle Boxster wishing them a ho ho ho merry Christmas in a cartoon voice.

Goodness. Life as Central Iowa's available adjunct is blowing up this morning.
If anyone else has a school that would like to reach out about a possible job, just let me know.
Hope this means you will finally be the one to opt in, on your terms.

In fact, the one option is non-negotiably in person. Three sections in a row of large lecture, which is easy enough, on Monday and Wednesday. Basically, the whole morning, then a lunch break, and drive to Drake.
They want an answer this afternoon. I'm seeing nothing but red flags on this one.

IF the money is the same as the other time I adjuncted up here, then that's a pretty nice semester for someone like me. With the pressure sale, I bet it's not.

I'm pretending.
Some of the options are at ISU, so I suspect they wouldn't be modifying to suit my needs a whole lot, but who knows?
I suspect they had someone else in mind, or got horribly disorganized to be asking this late, but again, who knows?
They did this on purpose and are trying to force you to make a snap decision on their terms. Ask for an extra 50% and use of the helmet car as a personal vehicle.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure they had someone and lost them, so I'm the "that dumbass will take anything" fallback guy.

It goes back to how you're viewed once you start taking any of these adjunct jobs. It marks a person as easily exploitable and, honestly, worthless (in the eyes of the schools and departments).

I mean, this has been a need since last summer. I've been watching it for a long, long time. It's my little hobby.

If you get the helmet car, they'll no longer be able to take you for granted.

I get a Christmas gift this year. A new furnace. Not much of a deal really. Going from the 90% carrier to 96% Trane. So I guess I can say I get a trane for Christmas.
Well, how long has a train been on your list? That will tell you how "grateful" you should be :)
