Saying this team was a 7-5 also ran is nothing but fact. I love the kids and I love the coaches. And I love Iowa State football but my love for them doesn’t change the fact of what happened and I’m sure there’s as much angst in the program over what happened as there is on the message board.

I suggest our performance two years ago would of been around 8-4 if a normal season. Covid year affected teams differently. More disciplined programs like ISU handled things better than others. Also, many have said we had a lot of favorable things happen during games two years ago compared to this year. I enjoyed that season, but deep down never thought we were a top 10 team [normal year]. Top 15-20 for sure. PLEASE beat me up kindly! ;)

How cool is it to have fans from other fan bases refer to the Cyclones as ‘our’ and ‘we’.

Glad the coaches brought you with them.

I don’t know why people get so upset when I call last season an asterisk season. It wasn’t just an asterisk season for us, it was for everyone.

Freyler is fundamentally a better safety than Young is.

Young is a BIG hitter, and people and the media love that…. he creates great highlight reels. Overall though, Freyler is better.

It’s like people watching a kid’s dunk highlights and thinking that makes them a great basketball player….. but Niang and Morris had no dunk highlights and look at them now.

I remember writing this before the season and getting roundly roasted.

Surly, I like you and tolfbfan. I am never going to apologize or rationalize the 9-3 season in 2020. Parcells was right. You are what your record says you are.

Some were going to do that if you had stated the sky was blue.

But I recall many in here who agreed with the assessment. I would bet that many that roasted your assessment also were strongly for the team this year being expected to go 10-2 (or better). The 7-5 record still didn't take away that the team is fun to watch, was in all the games, and was a few ways away from attaining the 10-2 record. Disappointing yes, but damn entertaining,

This world is all screwed up when I agree with Lane Kiffin!

Right there with you. He's right on this one. College football is blowing up in our faces. The no sit out transfer has all sorts of downsides to it for the majority of programs. Players who spring into the spotlight playing for a team like ISU can use that notoriety to instantly transfer to the "elite" school where they can make more money and possibly step towards the NFL. It's like free-agency in baseball. It's killed any concept of loyalty or commitment to a program or team.

I’m not going to say Frayler “is” better than young, but he definitely can be. He even started eating into his snaps at the end of the year. They are just different. It’s like Butler replacing Lazard, or Hall replacing Montgomery, Niang replacing White, Halliburton replacing Morris, and the list goes on and on.

Daeshawn Davis out now too, do we have returning linebackers on our roster? That’s minus five now if my memory serves. Ouch

I'm a 38 yo alum, that at one point ran a 5.6 40. I'm 6'1", w/ a 3-12" vertical depending on humidity levels, sneaky arm length and I'd first and foremost thank my God for this opportunity.

I'm blessed to announce I'm the new starting safety for the Iowa State Cyclones. #wininthedark #keepsawingwood

How much did you GIVE to the NIL?
