I'm pre-planned for a Cotton Bowl trip, so I'm going to miss out.

The one positive for the Liberty Bowl is that there will be an SEC team to play this year. I'd love to see Iowa State play any of the 7-5ish SEC teams.

Let's Go State!

You don't want that. Not this year.

Not going. Would have gone if it was something really special, but otherwise just can't afford it this year. Building a house will do that to your budget.

Does this change with a loss to TCU?

Yeah. If we lose to TCU theres a chance we finish 7th. 3 way tie at 4-5 is a bad scenario for us with TCU and WV. The only thing that would save us in a loss is if KU beats WV and Texas beats KSU. That means we would be 4-5 but stay in 4th.
Do we know if the bowl selection follows the tiebreaker rules. Or do the bowls pick based on who they want?

Probably over paying for your house in this market. Dave Ramsey says to wait if you can.

Not a chance. Would have gone back to Dallas. Don’t think you could pay me to go watch this team in Memphis

I had been thinking with how disappointing the season has been I wouldn’t be going anywhere, but it’s ripped my heart out seeing these seniors be devastated by these losses. And it’ll be sad to see them go. So I’d like to support them to close out these last two games for a positive end to the era.

Even though I hate Houston, likely only going to go to that one. Maybe squeak one out for the Guaranteed Rate bowl in Phoenix. No shot I’m going to Memphis or Orlando. Don’t think we’d make the Alamo Bowl. Below that? I guess I could probably swing the First Responders bowl since I live 3 miles away

Wait and see, but unlikely to go to a bowl game at this point. Almost certainly won't go if key seniors opt out, the opponent is a dud, or the destination is only 5 degrees warmer than central Iowa.

Figure I can just put that money in the bank for our CFP appearance next year.

With Big 12 bowl selection, only the Sugar Bowl has a requirement to take the conference champion (or the next placed team not in the CFP). After that, bowl partners can pick whoever they want.

This is the reason I think we are solidly going to be the fourth selection IF we beat TCU. If we lose to TCU and KSU beats Texas, we would be 6-6 and KSU 8-4. Then KSU gets the nod and things get really weird because there will be teams tied with us that can tell bowl partners “we beat them on the field”. But our traveling fan base probably wins out.

Pick who they want. Don’t matter where a team finished.
