Some I learned tonight, everyone is moving to Montana.

And per this Discovery destinations channel I flipped into they all have $.75M to $1.5M to spend.

Yep, our relatives in Bozeman say it’s getting very expensive to live there, and his family has been there for many decades.

Yeah I looked into moving there to get away from people and everyone else had that idea too apparently. I think Idaho is the same boat, unless you want to live in like some sort of cult compound or something.

I try to take advantage of the general quiet of the north woods (it's busier/noisier every year) before the Great Lakes become the place to be what with all of the water available.

With all the walking I do I was thinking how many steps you take in a year. If you do 10,000 steps a day over the course of the year you would do 3.65 million steps.
I probably average closer to 15,000 a day

Next year I should do a spreadsheet

My phone tells me i've taken 1.8 million steps since january. Of course that's just the steps with my phone on me.

All I have ever had was a fitbit and it must work by arm movement because when I ride the motorcycle I definitely accumulate steps due to the vibration of your arms.
Like the day I rode from Sundance Wy. back to Omaha I got something like 70,000 steps. Obviously I didn't walk back.

The fit bit ones (at least the older ones) use arm movement. I had a job once where I was scanning stuff and it counted my arm movements as steps.

Either movement or vibration. I get about 15-20k steps now but probably only 4-5k actually. Combine runs around walking speed

I'm actually surprised that they don't have more money than that. There's a huge concentration of billionaires with property in Montana.

All I have ever had was a fitbit and it must work by arm movement because when I ride the motorcycle I definitely accumulate steps due to the vibration of your arms.

Conversely, when I ride the bike I get very few steps. Arms are relatively motionless on the handlebars while the legs are doing the work. It does register some steps - probably some from vibration and some from when I am tossing the bike side to side like when standing on the pedals and climbing a hill - but not nearly as many as you would expect.

When the hands are glued to the lawnmower handle I get a ton of steps. Just like GR8, it is probably due to vibration.

Saw a neat job opening in Vermont. After making sure I wasn't pre-eliminated by words in the posting, I did my next step and looked at the cost of living there.
No surprise. I won't be driving myself crazy trying for that one.

It's either a 25 year old yoga instructor and their stay at home partner with a budget of $650,000 or someone that wants a move in ready, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths with an open concept chef's kitchen and direct waterfront with a budget of $250,000

It's either a 25 year old yoga instructor and their stay at home partner with a budget of $650,000 or someone that wants a move in ready, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths with an open concept chef's kitchen and direct waterfront with a budget of $250,000

Or the ones who have a budget of $150,000 to renovate their existing home. Gah.

Went to the Metro Marching Band Classic (a non competition showcase of the area high school marching bands as a fundraiser). The ISUCFVMB was the guest this year so that was our main driver for getting there, always like to support them when they come this way. Kids nearly made it miserable by not sitting still but it was still a good night.

Thanks for that, living the hermit life I only see friends and families kids in cute still shots on FB and can forget they are not totally adorbs all of the time.

That and a grandnieces meltdown in the background on a recent phone call.

Awww hell naw. We also went to the pumpkin patch before going there last night. If you are a FB friend you will see the pictures from that and see LittleWx doing everything but smiling.

Last best weather day of the year? Supposed to be 70-something again. Been out biking some and temp fools you until you get in the shade or it gets later afternoon and the sun angle is shocking low.

Would like to get in some more rides to hit 1200 miles, new goal.

Did Kielbasa and brussel sprouts on the grill last night. tossed the sprouts in some olive oil, garlic granules, and black pepper, they were ok not great overcooked them a bit IMO. Oh well it was a change of pace.
