I just finished reading Marley and Me. :cry:

Personally I loved the emotion. Here's a guy who grew up a Cyclone fan, 10 minutes away from Ames, and now he gets to coach them in the toughest conference in America....WOW!!!

Who cares! Let him show some emotion without completely slamming him...most players will see it as a sign of how much he really cares about the program and the family of players.

If I recall correctly, Vermeil led Philadelphia and St Louis to Super Bowl Championships. And Turner Gill was in tears after Buffalo won the conference championship.

Passion and emotion are good things, if they're channelled. That's a very big difference from being an "emotional train wreck".

For the record, my wife calls me a "sob-sister". I'm an emotional guy and am not going to apologize for it. You might want to try some other emotion besides cynicism. It's good for the soul.

Thanks...glad to hear it! As for the first question, either no one knows or there is no one...which means Rhoads will be the first great CFB head coach that was born/raised in Iowa.

I believe Dan MCarney was born in Iowa City, Iowa 1953......:wink:

1) Please give me the names of some great head coaches, past or present, in DI CFB that were born/raised in Iowa?2) Since Rhoads was born/raised in Iowa, I would like to know who he cheered for as he was growing up...ISU or the hawks?Anyone that can help with these questions...I greatly appreciate it. I wasn't at the press conference, but I did hear that right behind the stage the kitchen staff of Hilton was cutting up a few gross of onions. I bet that is why PR got teary.

Elmer Layden and Clyde Williams...a couple of old timers but nonetheless great coaches at the DI level. I used to love looking at the aerial shots of Clyde Williams field at ISU (it was behind State Gym for those that don't know).

I completely agree here, crying does not mean anything!

Well, unless you are in a slap fight, then I believe that the first person that cries loses, so I guess in a slap fight it is a sign of weakness. But that's the only place.
