Took a last second fg... That is not impressive. Even this team should beat Detroilet handily. This team is headed nowhere so why wait until the end to can some people and head a new direction?
It's the NFL. This isn't college. The difference between good teams and bad teams in the NFL is probably less than two college teams that people would consider evenly matched. I'm not saying the Vikings are good, or that Spielman and Zimmer should stick around, but winning a close game in the NFL is never anything to worry about. The Ravens won in the exact same fashion, by the same score, against this same Lions team.

Thanks for the insight. This isn't the only reason they should be fired, merely the last bit of evidence. Are the losses ok too because winning in the NFL is hard to do?

Did you guys see Kirk push Zim after the game winning field goal and Zim blew a gasket about it. Time to clean house and start over. Period.

I'd rather they go after Kirk Ferentz.

It feels more and more like the game has left Zimmer behind. Today's NFL is quite different from 20, 10, even just 5 years ago.

I like Zimmer, but he's old school. Old school no longer works in the NFL. The play calling yesterday was beyond horrible.

So I actually just somewhat followed the game yesterday because I had other stuff going on. I just rewatched the last 5 min of the game on a YouTube clip. My ******* god. What in the actual hell was that? It was even worse watching it on video. That cemented in my head that I have zero desire to pay to go up to see that team this year.

I didn’t get to watch either and caught some of the radio call. Late game and postgame the radio crew seemed to think the Vikings could have lit up the Lions through the air but just kept pounding the ground game.

Bercich was going nuts after the Mattison fumble. After seeing it on RedZone, it made perfect sense why.

I love the irony in this game too. Vikings actually get the luck of a kicker to go their way and it's the rest of the game everyone wants to gripe about (and rightfully so).

I was told that Jefferson could of done whatever he wanted but they didn’t make his touches a priority and it made zero sense

Looking at the schedule I'm not sure this team will win 5 games.
My gosh the mismanagement is incredible. Makes me think that this should be an attractive job to some good coaches as there is some top level pieces in Minnesota (Cook, Jefferson, Tielen, Hitman, Hendricks).

Taking the most optimistic look at the Vikings. You could see why a young, offensive minded coach would want the job:
If Darrisaw lives up to the first round pick. You have 2 bookends for 5 years minimum at tackle.
A top 10 WR in football on a rookie contract. A nice WR3 in Osborn who is still on a rookie contract. Theilen is a top 10 route runner and awesome locker room guy. Minnesota may have the best WR room in the league when you factor in what you pay Jets and Osborn.
Irv Smith at TE ready to breakout and give you 4 good pass catchers
Expensive but top 3 RB, one of or the best back-up RB's in football. You can cut Cook after the 2022/23 season for a small hit relative to what he's owed.
2 cheap and serviceable guards, not including the recovering Wyatt Davis. With a competent center and a veteran guard to bring in competition.. You have a top 5 offense. Which is needed to win a division and host playoff games.
The division top heavy. Rodgers is older and unhappy. If he leaves GB. You could own the division as Chicago and Detroit aren't good nor will they be.
Top notch ownership group who will open the checkook when called upon, the best stadium in football and the best facilities (or close) in the NFL
Defense has a Hunter, Kendricks and Smith to rebuild around. A ton of 1 year contracts on the 2021/22 roster gives you the ability to remake the defense to a new coaches liking.. Hopefully a 3-3-5 or 3-4 defense

Why the job may not be so good:
Darrisaw doesn't work and the guards don't get better leaving 4/5 spots in need of help
One of the worst contracts in football at QB for his win %
Terrible contract at RB
Aging Theilen
Horrific secondary
Hunter needs a new contract or is leaving
D tackles can't stop the run despite being "run stoppers"
Not a ton of draft capital for the 2022 draft
Not a desirable FA destination
Rodgers stays in GB for 5+ years and you can't win the division

In the end, I think A TON of the offensive struggles and defensive headsaches are fixed with a head coach change. Zim plays 1990/00's football and hasn't evolved. Having a top 5 offense isn't too far away with the right changes. Getting Brian Daboll into that HC role is my #1 option
