Yeah, I can relate. Our Sunday night school gym pick up BB games went on a COVID hiatus but I was always the oldest guy there and I only know one way to play - all out. Let's just say it was a good thing that we only played one night a week.At 30, some exercise would take hours for you to recover from. I played basketball this morning. I hope to recover by Sunday.
Yeah, it was a shock to the system to learn that you could drink at youth games when we played at tourneys in Wisconsin. I was appalled, but when in Rome...I should have brought bourbon for both of us.
About 10 years ago my Mom asked me what age I would pick if I could go back and I said 31 without hesitation. Young enough to still do everything I could at 20 but a little smarter.Heading towards 30 it seemed old, looking well back at it, not at all.
Seeing that in Wisconsin is both shocking and unsurprising.Yeah, it was a shock to the system to learn that you could drink at youth games when we played at tourneys in Wisconsin. I was appalled, but when in Rome...
Equally surprising was that I never saw anyone get drunk and out of hand.Seeing that in Wisconsin is both shocking and unsurprising.
Sounds like a challengeEqually surprising was that I never saw anyone get drunk and out of hand.
Agree. All the mending at Chez Velo is done by yours truly. If there is something that is best done with a machine or is beyond my capabilities Mrs. Velo takes it to her mom.Wife told me to that she is going to help with a sewing project at school. Kinda wish I could see that since any sewing is done by the once person in the house that knows how…..me.
I don't know if this is surprising or not but I've learned that a lot of the Maple Grove parents have booze in their drinking cups during youth athletic events.Equally surprising was that I never saw anyone get drunk and out of hand.
Not really. Considering some of the interactions my daughter has had as a referee it isn't at all surprising. One of the worst was during parks and rec league. She had a game with a particularly bad coach. I was there and they were short an AR so as a neutral bystander (and a trained referee) I stood in as a club AR (on the team side). He was terrible, constantly complaining about her officiating when he didn't even know the rules. I had to calm him down a few times. The next game that she reffed his team she should have yellow carded him and possibly more based on her description of events. (It is a relatively new rule that you can caution/send off the bench with yellow and red cards.) He went out on the field after the game yelling how she needed to learn the rules and how she hadn't given his team time to set up to defend a free kick. Never mind that she had blown her whistle a couple of times and verbally told the players to pay attention because she was starting play. He succeeding in getting many of the parents of his team yelling at her as well. This game ended up a 7-2 final score or something lopsided like that and the kids were about 10. She called the league ref assignor and apparently a couple of refs her age had already told him that they wouldn't work a game involving that team again. He said he was going to tell the league to remove him or they would provide no refs to any games involving the coach. Lesson: if you are going to be an asshat to refs and yell at them, make sure you know the rules of the game.I don't know if this is surprising or not but I've learned that a lot of the Maple Grove parents have booze in their drinking cups during youth athletic events.

The lower cabinets are the ugliest thing I have ever seen. The rooster curtains actually look good in comparison. They do help distract from the brown mustard(?) oven. With 2 sisters in or near Blacksburg and another moving there in the next couple of months they keep telling me I should get a place out there. I enjoy looking at houses on Zillow and sometimes you see some stuff that makes you wonder what they were thinking

When I was young my mom taught me how to sew buttons and patches so while I am rusty, I can still do it. Sewed a couple of buttons earlier this year. When this Covid nonsense all started a I sewed myself a mask by hand when you couldn't find any in the stores.Seamstress. Another job on BC's resume.
