I think we need to get Jirehl Brock more touches.
Or play like shart to start every year? Can someone explain to me why the hell we STILL seem to struggle so freaking badly with presnap penalties?
You aren’t getting it. Dominating but up 14-0 against a bad team is not dominating. Scoreboard matters. When playing ball control, pissing away two out of 4 possessions means the opponent is still in it. It reduces the margin for error. That’s how you end up 14-0 despite being much better. Our frequent “random” execution errors are why our version of ball control isn’t good. We don’t win the margins, we win the culture. You aren't getting it. Almost every time we possessed the ball, we scored. One of the times we didn't was a fumble, which is random. (Yes you can practice punching the ball out, but once the ball IS out it is 50:50 on who actually recovers it. There have been studies and the statistics back this up). We possessed the ball most of the time. Your are complaining about a 14-0 score when we had scored 2 TDs on 2 drives and they had gained like 10 total yards on their 2 drives. Hall crossed the goal line 5 times between those two drives due to crappy spots. We opened up a bit in the second half and had more explosive plays - the long TDs to Kolar and X.
Those penalties killed us up through the CCG though tooOr play like shart to start every year?
Anyone know when Orien Vance is going to be back?
I seriously think this kid is going to be special too.I think we need to get Jirehl Brock more touches.
To your point, despite clearly being more talented, it was 14-0 late in the 2nd quarter, with UNLV having the ball. That won’t cut it against any decent team.
What we did in the latter stages against a team with bad culture and quit isn’t that useful Imo.
Like every year, it was nice to see Manning slowly start to recognize what we do well. One would have hoped he would know Day1 given the returning starters.

I am way more worried about a chunk of our OL being super leaky than I am any part of our defense.Same with focusing on just moving the chains (long unneeded passes), ball security, etc.
I'm a little worried about the secondary vs. big plays too.
Saturday may be in that 'season defining' type of deal.
Yes, that is the issue. Dominating but 14 points is not a good sign.
We know by now that is not a fluke. Mistakes, poor execution, and unimaginative play calling have limited this offense. Even against a **** team like UNLV, it limited us to 14 points and with the opponent the ball with 4 minutes left in the half. Similar play against better teams, and you don't get to the part in which the other team quits. Instead you are down 27-10 because you pissed yourself.
This is correct. I live in CT and am married to a UConn alum. This is not the same UConn program from the first Randy Edsall go-around. They are absolutely abysmal. KU would route them without question.

If the goal is to be in the CCG then every Saturday from here on out fits that bill.

With how many guys were supposed to be good this year the OL is a bit disappointing. Obviously want to give them time to gel but when does the staff tinker with the lineup a bit?I am way more worried about a chunk of our OL being super leaky than I am any part of our defense.
Somebody else needs to get some time instead of Downing. He seems to be struggling. With how many guys were supposed to be good this year the OL is a bit disappointing. Obviously want to give them time to gel but when does the staff tinker with the lineup a bit?
