Where is it leaking from on the manifold. If at the block, replace the bolts or cut out the old ones and replace them.
I think so but to tell the truth I'm not exactly sure. I probably need to take it to a Mom and Pop place that is good with that kind of fix. Everyone else just wants to sell me a full exhaust including a catalytic converter.

I wonder if JB weld would fix it? the O ring that goes from the manifold down to the exhaust pipes on mine are gone so it rumbles right along. It would be a ***** to fix and with 250,000 plus on it I'm not too worried about it.
I had thought about that. I'm sure I would get some burns finding exactly where the leak(s) is/are but I might be able to do it.

In a couple of months it won't be an issue since I will likely loan the newer car to daughter for Nordic season. Skis fit much better in the larger vehicle.

Old man don't care about no noisy car.

I just caught back up the Iowa Fb recruiting and gossip thread. I think I lost IQ points reading it.

We learned this year that the library has a once a month book club for kids. They will get a free book to read together each month and opportunity to earn more free books. This is such an amazing idea. They are also encouraging the kids to think about the book by completing a book report.

Whenever we get a "new" car (less used than the rest of them) Mrs. Velo always seems to end up with the newest car and I end up driving her hand me down so I guess it is exactly what I am used to. ;)
This is how we handle it. She gets the new vehicle but I have to drive it some to figure out how the new technology works and teach her how to use it.

Correct on both me figuring it out and me teaching her.
The car we just bought (wife gets it, daughter gets her old car and I got the daughters vehicle) the wife told me the cruise didn't work. I drove it home after buying it the next day, and first try using the cruise it worked. I stayed quiet when my wife tried it the next time and my 14 year old son who just got his permit, explained to my wife how to operate it without ever driving it and no owners manual (reminds me that I need to order one). I internally smiled about that.

Get a child to love reading, and it opens up the world for them! I'm a strong proponent of reading to your children, and when they are old enough, encouraging them to read for pleasure as well as for education. Sounds like you have Z off to a great start, mama!

True, when daughter got her license early this year I handed down my beater to her. What was perfectly fine for me to drive has quickly become unacceptable to her. She has been working on Mrs. Velo who is now convinced that we need to get me a newer car and hand down my Mrs. Velo hand me down to daughter.

I have been dragging my feet...

Yeah, ain't that the truth. Mine was rust and noise. It has a manifold leak that makes it a bit noisy but the cost of a true repair would be more than the value of said vehicle.

Anyone have any ideas for a cheap fix for a manifold leak?

Maybe, but you'd have to find me a left front brake caliper for a Porsche 1987 924S in trade. ;)

Brake is seized and cannot find even a rebuilt one. AutoZone and O'Reilly both list rebuilds but they are not actually available if you try and order them.. Not "out of stock", just not even available, ever. Porsche dealer found a single OEM one but that and install plus OEM rotor (likely damaged) would cost (via them) half of what this stupid old piece of **** car is worth. Welcome to the age of unobtanium. Did find some salvage yard ones but would need to have a rebuilt kit (seals) done and good luck trying to find someone to do that. Anyone set up to do it could knock off a reseal in less than an hour but dealership would charge me $300 just for that $10 kit and 30 minutes of labor.

Just take it off. You got three other brakes anyhow. Still have two spares.

I take it the brake caliper for the 924S is different from the 924?

One of our boys actually drove an FF car. It had a hole in the floorboard in front of the back seat, driver's side. It also had a cracked dash directly below the rearview mirror because you had to hit it there with your fist to get the car to start. Don't ask. We never figured out why; we just knew it worked.

Closest i got was my brothers brakes failed as we were driving and we opened the doors to stop the car with our feet as we rolled up the slight hill of our driveway, and then slapped on the emergency brake.

As a private, I nearly dove out of a Humvee riding back from Cedar Rapids to Marshalltown when flames shot through the vents into the cab.
Turned out some extra things went wrong in that retrofit.
