Wow, I am pretty envious of what most of you have invested in equipment $$$. I golf only once a week. Most of my clubs are from circa 2005:
Driver TM R540 9.5degree
3W Callaway Steelhead III steel shaft, stiff
Irons Nike NDS 3-PW (on so many new sets, why don’t they include a 3I anymore?)
SW Cleveland 56degree
LW Staff 59degree
I get it if you’re thinking you will be really out of sorts. I will say that there are so many great YouTube channels out there giving out the most progressive and modern coaching that there is. I just feel like established in the flesh teaching pros in most places are going to be old school/whenever they were in school.
If you need someone to like set you up, show you what the fairway is, completely revamp your grip or something then a live session is probably reasonable.
Depending on your level and understanding of the swing, I wouldn't really recommend going down the youtube rabbit hole. IMO, having someone who can see what you're actually doing is very well worth it. They will get you set up right, make your grip workable, etc. Personally, I know a lot about the golf swing but if I don't have eyes on me, it's hard to figure some things out especially in alignment. There are a ton of online options out there where you send in a video and they'll send you a video back. A few years ago I was seriously ready to sell my stuff and just stay on my motorcycle because I was such an awful iron player. I was probably a scratch driver, 2 or 3 hcp putter and short game and was probably in the 15-20 range with iron and wedges and I was trending in the wrong direction. Cooler heads prevailed and I got online and found a guy who I thought I liked how he went about teaching. I did a 3 lesson package and he turned me right around in a month. I still had some issues that I knew were setup related and went to a local pro for a half hour lesson. Completely changed my life in regard to enjoying the game.
Ive gone through every style of irons in my playing career. My favor
That’s a good option. I don’t want to bring back bad mems for you but what was your deal with the irons?
So I pulled the trigger on the PXG Gen 3 Full Bag deal. The club fitting they did was great. I ended up with
811X Driver
341X 3 Wood
317X Fairway wood
(Woods have the Hazardous Smoke Yellow XS Shafts)
311p (4I-GW) Elevate Tour S Shafts
56 degree Wedge
60 degree Wedge
Battle Ready - Bat Attack putter
Can't wait to get out and golf this year!

Alright since @Gunnerclone basically gave the push I need into upgrading from my 15 year old set, I am looking for some input from y’all. I’m a mid handicapper but I devote little time (I just don’t have tons of spare time, but I love to golf). I’m staying with my wedges for now, and I will die (I think) before I give up my Ping Anser 4 which I’ve had since the late 80s.
I’ve narrowed the irons that I want to go test drive to (4-PW):
Ping G425
Titleist T300
Hybrids (19 degree)
TM SIM DHY
Ping 410
Cobra Speedzone
Driver
Ping G425
Titleist TSi3
Cobra Speedzone (black and red, I couldn’t carry a black and yellow club in my bag)
Fire away. I would love to get some suggests.
Yeah, back in the day, Ping woods (when they were still wood) were silly ugly. They were hard to take seriously.I like the all Ping’s except get the TSi driver. I can’t handle any ******** on top of my driver.

I just bought the TSi2. I did swap the stock shaft, because it's way to light, out with a Tour Spec Black 6s Atmos shaft and its so far one of the best I've played. This coming from a guy that doesn't switch drivers much because I like a certain feel and sound. The TSi got me more forgiveness along with a better dispersion, so it was worth it to me.Anyone got any course time in with any 2021 drivers? Epic, Sim2, TSi, Ping 425, etc? Looking to upgrade because why not. Looking for thoughts.

I have watched this guy for years. An interesting test,Anyone got any course time in with any 2021 drivers? Epic, Sim2, TSi, Ping 425, etc? Looking to upgrade because why not. Looking for thoughts.
You pretty much nailed it. The 7s feel better and aren't as 'clunky' looking in the smaller irons. The 5s are more forgiving so I'll definitely get a 5 and 6. On the fence which 7 iron though. I'll drop the 4 iron from the bag altogether. Assuming I can find any. Will also need to weaken the lofts of the 5s by a degree to avoid a gap where my switch is made.
