My condolences KC and to Lew also. Pets definitely become like surrogate children to parents whose children are grown. Hard to lose.
My mom had a teacup poodle that she got about the same time my dad started getting dementia. That little dog was her lifeline.
I was always so worried that she would lose that dog someday and just be crushed. After I had them remove the breathing tube and was sitting with her waiting for the end I made sure I told her that my sister was going to take care of the dog. I figured if she could hear me that's what she would want to know.

You risked Florida? Brave man. We are headed to Washington on Monday. Per the latest maps we found, we'll be in the "lowest risk" area of the state. I'm more nervous about the flights than I am the actual stay in Washington. Most of the things we'll be doing are outdoors, with just my sister & BIL. and the small music festival (private, invite from HS classmates...more of a multi-class reunion) is on a berry farm, where the owners have required that all attendees be vaccinated.

The long road comes to an end this weekend. MrsWx take her last final towards getting her RN today and has her last preceptor shift tomorrow, hopefully her boards will be in a couple of weeks.
Wow! It probably doesn't seem like it to the two of you, but that sure seems like it went fast.

We are outside for basically everything. Keeping distance for the most part. Wife did an antibody test before leaving (I get them every time I give blood) and mine are very high and hers were pretty good so we decided to give it a whirl. No theme parks (that would be risking it we figured) so we are holding distance well.

Glad to hear you're playing it safe.
I heard on the news yesterday that between Pfizer & Moderna, Moderna is showing better resistance to the Delta variant...so we go that going for us, which is good. ;)

The couple of times I've flown in the past few months the flight attendants were very good about correcting people who had mask "issues". I flew through Seattle back in June and everyone there was masked up. LAX and Atlanta were good as well in July. Myrtle Beach Airport however, was a different story (not that surprised me).
